Hours passed and River had stayed at Jasper's side for the most of them, not wanting anything to happen to him.
Eventually Octavia had told her she would take over so she could get a break.
River had thanked her before making her way out of the drop ship to breathe some fresh air. That however only lasted a few seconds. The air suddenly became really thick, making it difficult to breathe. Her exposed arms began to burn as she coughed. But she wasn't the only one. River peered over her shoulder to see everyone in camp also coughing and hurriedly running towards the drop ship.
"River!"
River recognised the voice as Octavia's coming from the drop ship's opening. A blurry picture of Octavia's came into view as River looked over at her. River hurried into the drop ship as fast as she could, so the burning sensation on her skin would pass.
"You okay, Rivi?" Octavia asked, bending down to the bend over and coughing River.
River managed to make a thumps up to her. "I'm f-fine" She croaked out between coughs.
Octavia left her side, running to the entrance to look out. "Monty, my brother's out there!" She yelled, worry coating her voice.
River's stomach sank. "What?" She said, worry written all over her face.
"He left a while ago to go hunting"
River headed straight for the exit and was just about to leave when Monty grabbed her wrist, stopping her.
"River, you can't" Monty began. "You'll get killed"
"I don't care. Bellamy's out there, so I'm going" River stated, trying her hardest to remove herself out of his grasp. "Monty, let me go! I have to help him! He'll die out there!" River felt tears threatening to drop at the thought of Bellamy out there.
She didn't care that they weren't on good terms, all she wanted was to know that he was safe. No matter what he was still her best friend.
