River never knew that silence could be so loud, until she was sat against a freezing cold wall in a room full of darkness. The only sound that could be heard was a water dripping from somewhere she didn't know. Her breathing was ragged, yet slowing down one step at a time. She'd managed to fool the guards and run from them. Or hide is more like it. Her entire body jumped when small chatters from guards came closer.
"Damn it, I think we've lost her."
"We can't let her escape."
A click of a button sounded.
"We lost the girl." A man spoke, sighing.
A crackly radio voice broke through. One she'd heard many times before and wished to never hear again, "What? You have to find her. We need her." Dr. Tsing spoke, sternly. "Keep looking. She can't have gone far."
Boots galloped across the floor, each step getting progressively more distant.
River sighed, not realising she'd been holding her breath instinctively. Quickly, she was back on her feet as she tiptoed along the floor. The dripping continued, although she didn't mind. She liked having something to focus on, so it wasn't completely silent. It didn't take her long to notice the strong smell that followed after her as she went on. Getting stronger the closer she got.
Her fingertips graced along the wall in an attempt to find anything useful. Suddenly, she felt something. . . a light switch. She didn't think twice before turning the light on, causing her eyes to squint at the sudden brightness.
She examined the room and found out that it appeared to be a tunnel of some kind. It looked a lot like the staircase room her and Clarke had ran through days before, minus the staircase. But this one was filled with wires and all sort of electrical stuff.
