chapter forty three — cold kisses

The five boys were bouncing the gold kart up and down as Cam tried his best to steer the thing however it was incredibly weighted down by the boy's combined weight. I could hear the echoes of their laughter and cheering as they raised their hands in anticipation for the kart to speed up.

"They are so immature," Kath rolled her eyes as we trailed behind the boys not wanting to participate in their antics.

Kath passed the carved apple back to Taylor with a smile making Belly and I give one another an approving look at the accomplishment. Taylor laughed as she watched the boys making Belly nudge her shoulder.

"You and Steven just, seem like there's a vibe," Belly shrugged as her best friend gave her an odd look.

"There's no vibe."

"Is everyone around here blind?" Kath questioned making me laugh, "I heard that you and Steven were having a lovely dance in the ballroom earlier," Kath grinned, I didn't know how she found out this information but she had always been my source for gossip.

"I only vibe for Milo," She spoke but it didn't sound convincing before we finally dropped the conversation not wanting to pry.

"Are we going to talk about the elephant in the room," Belly giggled as she looked at me.

"Oh, I don't know," I awkwardly laughed not wanting the attention on me.

"When did you guys resolve that?" The question made me think for a minute because we didn't really resolve anything, we didn't need to. It didn't feel necessary to argue with him about what had happened because it would just rip off a bandage that didn't need to be ripped. Maybe we just had to put that in the past, what's been done is done.

"Making out is what resolved it." Kath really had a lot to answer for as I watched Belly's jaw drop as she turned to face me.

"You didn't tell me!"

"It only just happened!" I defended as I repositioned the heavy bag of blankets on my back.

"I saw you and Jeremy on the couch," Taylor pointed at Belly.

"Wait so did I, what was that about?" I teased as the attention drew from me and pulled towards Belly.

"There could be something," She looked all giddy like a little child which made me smile as she continued on about her and Jeremiah.

We finally made our way to a flat spot on the golf course as the boys finally gave up trying to push the kart. We decided to crash as all the blankets and pillows were flung to the floor and a messy set-up was made with blankets here and there for us to sleep on like mats.
