chapter thirty one — bad for business

After what felt like ages we had finally arrived at Ocean Harbour, it truly was a beautiful place. The sky was blue as the clouds aimlessly drifted, I had to cover my face with my hand to block the sun as I mentally cursed myself for not wearing sun cream. Aunt Julia was staying at one of the many motels, which made it harder to find her, but when you're Jeremiah Fisher, the son of Susannah Fisher, it seems you have many connections.

We both stepped out of the car, flowers in hand as we made our way towards the steps leading us to Julia Motel's door. I suddenly felt a lot more nervous than I did seconds ago but after Jere gave me a reassuring smile we finally knocked on the door.

It opened quickly to reveal the blonde-haired woman; she looked so similar to Anna that it gave me goosebumps.

"Can I help you?" The woman questioned in bewilderment.

"Aunt Julia, oh my god," Jere embraced her in an unexpected hug making me hold back my laughter as he worked his charm, "Conrad told me you were here, and it has been so long I wanted to say hi," He beamed as she looked between her nephew and me.

"Jeremiah, and-"

"Oh Liv, Olivia Brooke, Emily Brookes's daughter," I stumbled on my words making me mentally scold myself for the poor introduction.

"Wow, it's been so long," She shook her head in shock as she connected the dots, "You've got my dad's eyes," She chuckled as she made the rather odd revelation but we chose to just continue smiling to you know, give the best impression.

"I got these Hydrangeas for you from my mom's garden," He beamed with pride as he handed over the flowers however, Julia didn't seem very pleased, "I was wondering if we could have a second to talk?"

"Is this about the house?" She questioned, I felt a pit of dread in my stomach as I bit my lip, she was already onto us, Jeremiah nodded quickly, "I'm sorry but I've chosen to move on with the sale actually, we are going to have an open house tomorrow."

My heart dropped, tomorrow? But tomorrow was so soon, much sooner than we had expected and now we needed to speed up our plan as quickly as we could. I saw the disappointment on Jeremiah's face as he began to tremble at his words, I knew I had to step in.

"You have to know how much this house means to Jeremiah, to all of us, please take that into consideration," I almost pleaded, I hated how desperate we sounded but at this stage, I didn't know what else to do.

"I have but, I need to do what is best for me."

"But why would you want to let go of such a magical place?" I felt myself getting frustrated as I contorted my eyebrows in confusion.
