chapter forty six — there's no coming back
𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐬 𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰:

Did they think we were going to accept that offer? The house is ours yet Jere was ready to pay someone else to stay there for a single week; it wasn't going to happen. We had grown up in this house for years, it was our mom's house, not Aunt Julia's and she had no right to do this to us.

"Why are you the only one that gets to make this decision?" My brother snapped making me scoff at his words.

"Jere, we're not gonna pay another family to rent our house," I replied sarcastically, emphasising my words as I shook my head.

"This isn't our house anymore." I knew he was partly right but I wasn't ready to give up on this fight.

"Exactly. Let it go."

"Yeah, 'cause you're an expert at that." He snapped back making me even more infuriated, what did he mean by that? My eyes glanced at Liv who stood awkwardly next to her brother; I wanted her to say something, I wanted her to stand with me in my decision like she normally did yet, she stayed quiet.

"Jere," Belly softly spoke, her arms crossed as she looked up at my brother.

"No, no, this is the shit he does. When things aren't perfect, instead of trying to fix it, he decides to throw it away." As Jere continued to speak I felt myself shrinking at his harsh words.

"And it-it's not just the house, you did it to Liv, too," He stuttered on his words, my breath shaking when he said Liv's name.

I watched as Liv's eyes widened at the mention of her name before her face contorted to a look of frustration; she looked like she wanted to say something yet her mouth betrayed her.

"You came to me, you fucking whined to me that you loved her, and now look at you both!"

"Is that true?" Her words were fragile and I felt my heart shatter ten times over from the pain laced in her voice as she looked at me for answers.

"Jere, that was between us, " I muttered under my breath listening as Liv scoffed.

"Yeah, it's fucking true."

"Guys can we not do this right now, what happened to the last night?" Oakley spoke up for the first time, glancing between his sister and the two of us but I knew his words were futile because Jere was still revving to go.

"You know when shit got tough, he couldn't handle it, and he dropped you."

"Is that why you kissed Belly?" Liv questioned making my body tense up at her words.

I felt my mouth go dry as she stared at me, a hollow, broken look on her face. I don't know how she found out, and I hoped that she never would because it meant nothing; but to her, I know her whole world must've crushed down in a second.
