Yunlan's temperature had come down but he was still very agitated, because the drug the medic had used was opening up new channels in his mind and giving him nightmares. Wei had only dozed for an hour in the chair beside his bed when he became aware of Yunlan fighting in his sleep but so far, it was all in his head and he called out as if he was looking for someone who was lost, but they never answered. Wei could only watch and wait. He was amazed when he saw Yunlan use his gift to slow time as he reached for some invisible person in his dream while he called again, but whoever it was still never answered.
Wei never felt himself fall asleep in the chair until he raised his head and opened his eyes. He panicked and fell backwards in fear, when he saw Yunlan engulfed in flames and scrambled across the floor to get away from the danger. He then stared at the different colours as he remembered the fire his last partner could ignite in the palm of his hand, but it was nothing compared to the strength of this firestorm. Wei stood up and came closer as he reached out with his fingers, but there was no heat while the flames curled and danced around them. Yunlan would never hurt him, and he took his courage in both hands as he sat on the side of the bed and joined him in the vibrant inferno, seeing the room from a different perspective through a living prism of light.
Yunlan slowly opened his eyes and gazed towards Wei through the colourful flames, and thought he was still dreaming with the feel of Wei's soft lips pressing as he explored his mouth and rested his hand on his heart. A sharp spike of pain caused Yunlan to cry out and he gripped his injury while the flames turned fiery red which worried Wei, and he spoke softly to him.
"Yunlan, stop your flames and rest, there is no danger here."
Wei stayed where he was watching as the fire slowly died down before the flames went out, and he looked to see if Yunlan was awake but he wasn't. He must have been conscious for a single moment before he closed his eyes and drifted back to sleep. Shen Wei carefully moved Yunlan's hand away from the wound to check if there was any leakage but it was minimal and he remained peaceful for the rest of the night, while Wei moved over to the window seats and managed to get some sleep.
The stubborn person in the bed woke up in the morning and tried to move, but a sharp pain shot through his side and he curled up as he bent his knees trying to protect himself, while Wei watched him from across the room and came over to speak to him.
"How are you this morning?" Wei asked as he looked at the tears which had escaped when Yunlan felt the sting in his side.
"I'm alright," he answered but he was holding onto the wound to stop the discomfort he was feeling.
"Zhao Yunlan Jun. That is the first lie you have told me, don't make a habit of it." Wei answered sharply as he sat down on the edge of the bed and used a damp face cloth to wipe away Yunlan's tears as he watched his tense expression, which was failing to hide his pain and he had to admit how he felt, as he looked at the professor who preferred the truth.
