Wei was aware of everything up until he vanished and then he must have blanked out, because he didn't know where he was. It was pitch black and he was lying on something hard, not a bed and the smell of wood was very strong. He couldn't see anything and he tried to look around before he thought about sitting up, but it was too dark and very quiet, except for a low hissing noise. He lifted his head and banged his brow hard against something solid which was agonising, and forced him back down again, as he felt the pain echo repeated in his skull until it settled. Something was restricting his movements and he felt around with his hands while he tried to keep his breathing regular and stay as calm as possible. He was in a sealed box with an air inlet and he was not going to suffocate.

The calm steady state of mind lasted for two minutes at a time followed by blind panic, then another two minutes of peace while he tried to think his way out of this situation. The guards would find his life energy but it depended on distance, because he was alone. Black Robe might sense he's in trouble but he thinks he's in the mansion resting. Yunlan would dig with his bare hands if he ... Dig, "Am I underground, how deep, where am I, why am I not feeling cold if I'm buried?"

Wei's reasoning only lasted for short spells until the tears and the anger took over, and he had no control over his emotions until he stopped for another few minutes of peace which was gradually increasing, and his tears were slowing down.

"Crying will get you nowhere," he told himself, and he started to feel the inside of the box, looking for defects or if it was polished wood. He slid his fingers slowly down one side as far as he could reach and then the other, finding out that both sides were identical. He then tried to reach past his shoulders but had to stretch diagonally because he couldn't straighten his arms out, his head was very close to the end of the box. The only thing he found was the air inlet hose in the top left corner with warm air coming in. It must be sunny and warm outside and maybe he wasn't very deep, which was good and bad he thought. Good that he might be found by someone else but bad if he had to spend the night here, he would be very cold. Wei wasn't hungry or thirsty and if he needed to relieve himself, he was past the point of caring about waiting.

The gamer had mentioned a prank that the boys had played on him, but that must have happened less than two years ago, before he killed Yunlan, his first partner, the first murder was before him and how was the victim connected to the prank? Killing Yunlan was probably because he was getting too close or because he was a detective, but why am I here? Maybe the boys are in one of my classes, does he know that I can see the sign? Does he know that Yunlan Jun can see it as well?

Wei stopped thinking when he felt something tickling his feet, and realised that he'd no socks or shoes and prayed that it wasn't a spider or something else, while he shook his feet about trying to dislodge it, and it seemed to work but if it was trapped just like him, it would be back and he closed his eyes for a second, listening for anything. Sleep claimed him and he escaped into his restless dreams while he fought and kicked, causing himself injuries he would be unaware of until he was released. He couldn't see his broken skin, his cuts, his grazes, the bruises he would have by his limited space, or the slivers of wood from the inside of the box which were imbedded in his feet. He had very little protection from the rough interior through his thin pyjamas. The gamer didn't care about trivialities.
