Chu was pacing worriedly as Ava watched and tried not to be influenced by his behaviour, she had complete confidence in Black Robe, but she was just as worried as Chu.
The air chilled as Yunlan appeared with Wei unconscious in his arms and brought him straight over to the bed in the medical room where Ava began to undress him and Chu examined him thoroughly. He could see some mild injuries to Wei's feet and toes mainly due to very mild hypothermia with some splinters of wood, and gave him the all clear, while Yunlan stripped down to his underwear, before he got into bed beside him, cuddling Wei to give him body heat. Ava threw a heavy winter duvet over them and then switched the electric blanket on to a low setting.
"He's alright Yunlan, if we can get his body heat back up, his feet and toes will be fine but I'mgoing to bathe them with an antiseptic before I apply some dressings. He'll be wearing bed socks for a few days. Keep his cold hands inside the covers as well." Ava said as she made sure they were both comfortable.
Chu was satisfied that there was no real damage physically but he never said anything about the mental impact of being held in a confined space, only time would tell.
Black Robe was reluctant to leave, he was relieved to see his host alive and well, but he knew that he couldn't merge with him until Wei's body temperature had remained normal for at least two days and he thanked Yunlan, as he quietly slipped back to the Enigma Room. Wei was still lying with his arms folded trying to heat his hands, similar to how he had been lying in the sealed box, while Yunlan cuddled him, hearing him muttering every now and again. It sounded like a name and a date and he wondered why Wei was trying so hard to remember it as he watched him sleep, making sure that the duvet was up past his neck and held him firmly for the rest of the night.
When Yunlan awoke in the morning, he found Wei clinging to him with his arms wrapped around him, hidden under the duvet and he smiled as he lowered the cover to allow him to breathe fresh air. Ava tapped the door before she entered quietly and saw Yunlan smiling at her as he waved at her to come and look at Wei.
"I'm only in to check if he's alright this morning. I can ask a guard to transfer you upstairs if youwish, because he's not going anywhere for a while." She suggested, which would give them more privacy.
"That would be much better, thank you Ava, he's sound asleep, and I can't get out of his hold." Yunlan said as he looked at Wei who still had him locked in his arms, while he slept.
Guard Li had risen early for his history class at the university and he gladly teleported them upstairs plus all the warm bedding, leaving the medical room empty for Ava to tidy later.
Eventually Wei opened his eyes and realised where he was but he didn't want to move. He was warm and felt safe while he held on firmly under the duvet and lay against Yunlan, who became aware that he was awake and glanced down into his eyes as he spoke.
