Chapter 46: A fucking miracle

"Doctor Rose, what does Twin Gestation mean?", Ajax asked after receiving our first ultrasound report. "It means there are two fetuses in the uterus or should I say you're having twins", Doctor Rose said as if it was a normal thing.

I looked at Ajax and he was as shocked as I was. No wonder my belly was bigger than usual.

I have been avoiding the public eye for the past three months for that exact reason. Philip has been running #abrighterfuture with Justin while I took over Fiducia's operations. Anything that required a physical presence was taken over by Justin.

I have also been wearing baggy clothes. Lydia thinks it's dope but Nico saw right threw me in days while Justin heard me when I was complaining to Ajax about the back pain and feeling sleepy.

Denice has been buying gender-neutral baby stuff ever since we went out and I said no to alcohol.

Don't get me started on Lily and Liam. They already think of me as their miracle child since they couldn't have their own, add a grandkid in the mix and they go crazy. They call me every day... separately. Just to ask me how I am.

Christopher and Bridget visit me every weekend to check on me. We have breakfast together then they leave. It has become our tradition. I love it, especially when Christopher brings hot dogs for breakfast or chicken and waffles.

Jason has made it his mission to touch my belly every time we meet. He makes Simone read baby books with him to know which stage I'm in and how they can bond with the baby or should say babies now.

"A fucking miracle!", was all Ajax said with his eyes still on the report. "That it is. About the back pain, I have made an appointment for you at this gym. I need you to exercise three times a week. I'll call your trainer and tell him about your routine and what I need him to do with you. His name is Sly ok?", Doctor Rose said handing the gym's brochure and that caught Ajax's attention.

"Isn't there a female trainer?", he asked with jealousy written all over him. "Trust me Papa Bear. He's a professional so no need to worry", she assured him with an amused smile. "Can I also go there or is it a women's gym?", he asked as if he hadn't heard what she said before. "Uh... you can. It's a high-end gym with the best trainers in town, it will help with the paparazzi part too", she said and he nodded as if he was interested in how good they were.

We collected the vitamins at the pharmacy and then left through the back door as usual.

Ajax made sure I got to work safely and then went to the station.

"You look different", Lydia said when she found me sleeping on the sofa. I released a breath giving up on the idea of letting her find out on her own. "It's what happens when you're pregnant Lydia", I said and watched her freeze. "What?", "Why do you think I stopped traveling and started wearing baggy clothes?", I asked her and it was like she was struck by lightning.

"Shit! Congratulations! OMG! How could this happen?", she asked herself while sitting on the sofa that was opposite of mine. "That explains the glowing. Aubrey!! This is amazing!", she said making me chuckle. "Thank you Aunty Lydia", i teased and it made her smile. It was like I just made her day. "I'm printing a t-shirt with that and booking a pregnancy photoshoot. When do you wanna take it?", she asked with excitement. "Not now, that's for sure", I said then closed my eyes.

"Are we telling people?", she asked. "Not yet, I'm looking for the right time", I said then heard her type on her tablet. "We have the Annual Achievement Awards in two months. If you ask me. It's a perfect setting", she said and I hummed in approval. "Awesome! This is gonna be epic! Please be ready to increase my salary after this. When I'm done with you the only thing in front of you will be Philip's weird smirk and Fitzgerald's sweaty bald head", she said then made an evil laugh.

I guess I just unleashed the PR Lydia to the world. I was too sleepy to ask her what she was talking about and gave in to the slumber.

"We should come back later Babe", "No, look at how adorable she is. That's the mother of our child baby". "Babe, that's my sister, not a surrogate", "Psst! I know that but you do know the baby is ours right?". I heard Simone and Jason whisper, it made me smile. Didn't expect to meet people who would be more excited than Ajax. 

It was very weird.

"You mean babies right?", I said while stretching. "What? Stop messing with me, Aubrey. We're having twins?", Jason asked making me reach for my purse and give them the ultrasound report. "Aaah! Babe, we're having babies", Simone shouted making me cover my ears.

"Can you guys tone it down?", I asked after yawning. I looked at my watch I had ten minutes left before a virtual meeting with Fiducia country CEOs. I got up and ordered some cucumber and carrot sticks leaving them with their eyes glued on the report.

I was getting comfortable on my table, starting my laptop when my phone rang. It was Ajax. "Hi, gorgeous! It's time for veggies", he said cheerfully despite being in a noisy place. My ears couldn't handle it so I put him on loudspeaker. "Thank you. I've already told Nico to bring them to me", I replied. "Stop being a show off man", Jason whined making Ajax laugh. "Go make your own babies then.... shit have you told them yet?", he asked making me laugh. "Yes, I have. Jax, I need to join a meeting, talk later", I said while joining the meeting and switching off the camera and audio.

"Ok gorgeous, later. You two, stop distracting her", he said then hung up. "You heard the man, let's go before he hides her", Simone teased then kissed my forehead and they left.

"Good afternoon team, let's start with Segue", I said after everyone joined and I switched on my camera and audio.

"Good news. Netherenes is expanding and we're expanding with him. He has requested for an addendum for his food processing plant and he needs 75 semi-trailers with refrigeration systems for transporting the produce from local farms to the plant", one of the CEOs said. "But they can't reach remote areas. So what's your plan?", I asked him. "I was thinking of having minivans loading the trucks for areas with rough roads", he suggested. "I think you should ask him for a field visit. It will give us a better picture of what we will be dealing with. We don't want to find ourselves limited by our own motto", I said making them laugh. "You're right on that. Neither remote nor plain sight, we distribute!", he said making me nod.

"We also have some expansion propositions that we shared with Justin. We know he's not around but if you could jump on that it would be great", my only female CEO said making me smile. "Understood Beth, I'll get on it ASAP. Does anyone else have any burning issue?", I asked and everyone said no.

"Well, I have one. I will be announcing this on the Annual Achievements Awards but I thought that as part of Fiducia's Exco team, you should know in advance", I said then stood up and lifted my sweater. Everyone cheered and gave me their best wishes and we ended the meeting.
