Chapter 48: You're not alone anymore

We found the event planning squad surrounding Sam. He was showing them something on his phone.

"That is so cute. I'm happy this is a cliché engagement party. Piece of cake", Simone said making Sam smile. "Thank you for this Simone", he said looking a bit emotional. "Don't sweat it. You're best friend paid for it by giving me babies", she said with sassiness. "I thought you said she's not a surrogate", Jason teased and earned an elbow on his side. "Fuck! That was rude", he said making Simone laugh.

"Wait did you just say twins? They're having twins?", Sam asked making Simone nod with excitement in her eyes.

"Oh hey, love birds. Feeling lighter?", Denice asked me while wiggling her brows. I wanted to run from embarrassment. Ajax just laughed and pulled her in a hug.

"Hello Denice, mind telling me where you two were going looking this beautiful?", he asked her and she got even more excited. "We were going shopping. She needs an outfit for the pregnancy reveal. Lydia said it's going to be epic so we decided to find the right outfit to match it", she said with excitement. "What reveal? Are you planning a baby shower? I mean isn't that supposed to be a surprise to the mother of the baby?", Ajax asked, I remembered that was the reason we went to his office.

"Oh! Sorry, I wanted to tell you when we walked into your office but I got... distracted", I said and he nodded the furrowed his rows.

He was mad.

I pulled him to their kitchen and held his hand, I put it on my heart and looked at him in the eyes. "I want us to show my bump at the Annual Achievement Awards ceremony", "When is it?", he asked still looking serious. "On the 3rd of August", I said with pleading eyes. "When did you decide to do this?", "Uuh... like two weeks ago. Lydia was still arranging her stuff so I was waiting for her to confirm her things before telling you, she did today", I explained and he released his breath. "I'm sorry Jax, I thought you won't mind. I just hate wearing baggy clothes. They make me look fat", I whined and it made him chuckle.

"Brey, these are our babies. We're supposed to talk before deciding to tell Lydia. Did you stop and think about me? If I'm ok with this? I mean we've always kept our relationship separate from your work and I kinda like it that way Brey", he said trying to control his anger.

I hated seeing him angry. 

I felt so guilty that I started crying.

"Why are you crying Brey?", he asked then pulled his hand away from me. "I don't know. I just felt like it", I said which made him look confused. He pinched his nose and then released a breath. "Brey, why are you crying?", he asked again but this time around he looked concerned. "I feel guilty. I'm sorry... please don't leave me. If it's not ok with you I'll tell Lydia I won't do it anymore", I said then reached for my phone ready to call Lydia but he took it from me.

"Why do you want to do it?", he asked. "I don't want to hide my babies anymore. I don't want to hide you. I mean, if we're a family then we might as well put it out there. I also hate that they're saying I'm Philip's girlfriend", I said the last part with a pout. "So it has nothing to do with Lawrence or Maya?", he asked with a raised brow. "I didn't even think about them", I said.

"Ok then. Let's do it", he said making me jump with joy and pull him in a kiss. 

"Next time you want to do something like this or anything concerning our babies I want to know about it first", he said and I nodded and kissed him again. "I mean it, Brey. No amount of tears or kisses will save you", he insisted. "I know", I said seductively and pulled him in a kiss again. The moment he wrapped his hands around me I knew I won so I deepened the kiss which made him moan. "Get a room will ya!", Ernest said from behind me making me pull back. I turned to him and furrowed my brows.

"What is wrong with you?", I asked and he looked lost. "What did I do now? You and your little sister hate my guys for some reason and I think it's time to ask why", he asked with his hands on his waist. "I don't know... did you try being nice to me and see what happens?", I asked. He ran his hand through his face and then looked at me. "Hello, Aubrey. How are you today? Would you mind not eating the Captain's face in our kitchen?", he asked then added a fake smile at the end.

I rolled my eyes and went back to where Sam and the others were sitting.

"Are we done?", I asked and they nodded.

"I can't believe those people. How could they sell our table? I mean it's stupid", Maryanne said with anger and I almost laughed because it was all a setup.

Simone decided to use Ajax and me as distractions. Ajax arranged a fake double date for us to finally meet since we couldn't during the barbecue party. Simone paid the receptionist at their favorite restaurant to pretend he sold the table by mistake. We were to recreate the barbecue date they had because it was the day he officially asked her to be his girlfriend.

"Baby it's fine. We can go home and chill besides Ajax can make some steak sandwiches he made us when he was still a bachelor", Sam joked Maryanne's eyes went wide with excitement. It was good to know that she was a foodie too. "That's a great idea. Let's pass by the grocery store then", she said leading the way to Ajax's truck. "I did shopping yesterday let's just go home", he said and she was even happier.

"So how far along are you?", she asked while we were on the way. "Almost five months", "That's so cute. I'm praying that we have twins too, right baby?", she asked Sam who looked lost in thought. He looked nervous. "Two or three?", "My vagina or yours?", her sarcastic question made me burst out laughing.

We walked into the house and Sam called her in the same spot where he asked her to be his girlfriend. "Baby, what did you need? I was about to give Aubrey some juice", she asked while looking at me. When she turned to Sam's side she found him down on one knee. "Baby. I can't live without you. Will you marry me?", he said with his voice shaking. Totally forgot the lines Simone told him to say but it was still romantic.

"Oh my god! Yes baby, Yes!", she said and that was the cue for everyone to come out of hiding and shout "Surprise!!!!!". 

"Oh my goodness! This is amazing. I love you", she said as she kissed him again.

"I should start charging people", Simone said while standing next to Ajax. We all stood and watched as people took turns congratulating Sam and Maryanne. "Wait for ours first please", he said making her chuckle. "You don't count. You're family", her words made Ajax tense. When I looked at him he had a proud smile. I leaned into him and whispered, "You're no longer alone Jax. You have a little sister and brother-in-law now". "That I do", he said then kissed my forehead.
