I stood leaning against the railing of the Swordfysh as I stared into Camp Half-Blood. I could see the distant light of the bonfire, it was high and bright since Camp was celebrating getting the Golden Fleece. Hestia didn't wait for the reward to be given, which I don't mind, I did give it to her after all.
"So, they got what they're after and now we... got what?" Aranessa asked as she stood beside me.
"Well the Swordfysh and any of the crew can come and go from Camp as they please." I told her. "Though Poseidon and Charybdis would have kept us relatively safe at sea anyways..." I finished with a shrug.
"Yeah, Charybdis did us a favor by getting our ship here after we went to save ye." She chuckled, she then leaned on the railing beside me. "But I want to know what you got out of this."
I sighed, "Nothing tangible."
She scoffed, "They're cheap bastards?"
"No, I didn't ask for anything tangible, just knowledge and a promise to give me any of the Black Books should they find them. All the 12 Olympians made the promise, no other goddess so that could be a loophole, but later dealing I suppose." I explained it to her.
When I looked at her from the corner of my eyes I saw Aranessa staring at me, before a smile broke out and she laughed, "You know, for some reason I am not surprised."
"Well I don't need money and any power I'll take for myself." I said as I noticed two demigoddesses walking towards the ship, Avery and Katherine. They were not alone as they had Melina with them. "Suppose I should go see what they want."
"We'll be here, ready for a raid on another religion I guess." Aranessa said as she walked towards Sylin.
I laughed at that as I clambered down the side of the ship. Thankfully it was currently beached, otherwise I would have drowned immediately after. When I turned to the three I froze at the sight of something one of them held.
Katherine sheepishly walked forward and held Liber Necris out to me, "When we were boarding the Princess Andromeda I found this in someone's grasp so I knocked them out and took it, so here..."
I took the book as I looked up at her, "Thank you... Kathy." I thanked and couldn't stop the smile from coming to my face when I saw hers light up, but she quickly regained her composure and hid it.
"Well don't lose your stuff so easily idiot." She huffed, crossing her arms.
Next thing I knew I was faced with a very worried centaur Mama looking over me, "Up before you're even rested properly! Are you hungry, do I need to go get you something to eat? How are you feeling? Is your eye hurting? Tell Mama what she can do to help."
For a moment I was too stunned to speak. I had never been bombarded with such motherly care before. In fact I instinctively took a step back and got defensive. The worried expression on Melina's turned to one of concern. I tried to play my reaction off.
"I'm not really hungry right now, the food Limos gave me was quite filling." I told her with a nervous chuckle.
Her lips pursed as Katherine seemed to be debating on taking my arm or not, but in the end it was Avery who gingerly pulled me close to her in a firm yet gentle hug. Avery's silky smooth voice whispered, "She's not trying to hurt you Y/N, just worried, okay?"
I leaned into Avery as I felt her warmth radiating. She was kinda like a furnace, completely different from Katherine's cold body. Her hand was calloused and rough, but was so gentle when touching me. After a few moments I pulled away trying not to blush, "Thank you."
