Tex was still running to Loona's apartment on all fours with Balin on his back, who looked back to make sure Verosika was far away from them.

"You all good up there, dude?" Tex asked in a breather. "Yes! I think we lost her!" replied Balin.

"Don't worry dude, we'll be home before you know it." Tex said, as he began barking like a dog in his normal voice as he kept running, making Balin laugh and keep his mind off of Verosika.

Who meanwhile kicked down the front door of the I.M.P building and saw them from a few feet away. "Oh little human!" she took off her high-heel boots and started chasing them along the street.

Soon, the two made it to the apartment and ran all the way upstairs with Tex's strength still flowing in his veins.

As soon as they reached the floor where they lived on, Balin then stopped Tex and he skidded to a halt with his claws in the carpet. He crouched down giving Balin the opportunity to hop off and run straight to the door.

"Well, we'll just have to wait until Loona gets back Balin." said Tex. "She'll be quick. Mama wolf's gotta do what she's gotta do."

"What? Come on Tex, Loona's not my mommy." Balin's face blushed bright red. "We're just friends. I already have a mother."

"I know, I know." chuckled Tex. "I'm just playing." he gave the boy's shoulder a gentle pat.

"But what about Verosika?" Balin then gave him his answer. "I don't want her to grab me and take me away, what if she eats me?"

"Oh, I'm sure Verosika wouldn't do that. Like I said, she loves kids." Tex kindly reminded him. "But you said she doesn't pay you well. That's not a nice thing to do in my book." insisted the boy. "And you look like you need this job, so what if she makes you do as she says?"

"Oh... I see. Well I'd love to help Balin, but I don't have a key." "B-But you're like a giant wolf. Can't you just use one of your claws?" Balin suggested, unsheathing one of Tex's sharp claws.

"Kid, that's breaking and entering." Tex sounded shocked hearing this from the 7-year-old. "But what was it you said about taking the blame for friends?" Balin asked with a puppy-eye smile.

Tex then smiled in return and laughed a little in awe his innocence. "Alright little man. I'll try." he began tweaking with the lock trying to find a way to open it without breaking his claw. After about 8 seconds, he did it. The door to the room was soon opened and Balin started celebrating.

"Yes! We did it, we did it! Uh-huh, huh, huh! We did it," Balin sang jumping for joy, while Tex gave him a head rub in laughter.

"Oh sweetie... Mama can hear you..." Verosika called from a few floors down. Tex then grabbed the boy's body with both of his paws and carried him inside. He then decided to hide him in his room just in case.

"Hmm, I like what you've done with the place." Tex admired the scene. "Thanks. Loona's friends finished it while we spent yesterday together in my old home." said Balin.

"Sounds cool. Did you have fun?" Balin then gave Tex a nod. "Now, just stay quiet in here until I give the word, okay?" Tex said softly, before closing the door to Balin's room. "Okay Tex."

Tex then tiptoed up to the see-through hole in the door to see if Verosika was anywhere to be seen. It was very quiet for about 5 seconds until Tex saw some movement from the far left of the hallway. It was Verosika searching from room to room trying to find him and Balin.

So when she got closer to Loona's room, Tex then hid away from the door where she couldn't pick up his breathing. Verosika then stopped picking up a familiar scent. She had a sniff for a little bit, which worried the hell out of Tex. He didn't want her freaking Balin out any longer than he already wanted her to. The suspense lasted about 10 seconds before Verosika made a shrugging noise and walked off.
