THE NEXT MORNING...
Balin was still asleep in his bed, cuddling his teddy bear as the pentagram sun rose. Then, as the doggy alarm clock on his bedside table hit 7:30am, it went off with the dog on the clock coming to life and barking like Goddard from 'Jimmy Neutron', before jumping onto the bed and licking his face.
The boy slowly started moaning from the ticklish tongue until he woke up laughing. Sensing his movement, the dog stopped licking, ran back onto the clock, and froze again. Balin grabbed his personal towel from the other bedside table to wipe his face as Loona came in wearing her purple wolf PJ top.
"Looks like the new guy did his thing." she sat down on the edge of his bed chuckling too. "Yep." replied Balin.
Loona then yawned like a lion, baring her razor-sharp teeth and sounding like one too, which soon got Balin's attention.
"Whoa...!" he gasped. "How did you do that?" "Just one of the perks of being a hellhound, kiddo." Loona grinned. "...You wanna know what else I can do?" Balin then sat closer to her in curiosity.
"I can bark. *Woof! Woof!* "I can howl." Loona then howled like the wolf she was, but quietly as to not wake up the neighbours. "And... I can roar too."
"Roar? Nah, doggies can't do that." scoffed Balin. "Oh yeah, and they can't purr like a cat when you scratch behind their ears." Loona smirked with a sarcastic tone. "Alright then, prove it." Balin playfully crossed his arms with a wry smile.
So with a beat of her chest, Loona took a deep breath and...
As the street was starting to fill up with demons, "RAAAAWWWWR!" Loona roared super loud like a tiger, causing them to run away again, while Blitzø fell from the fire escape landing on his camera.
"What the fuck?! All I wanted to do was say good morning to my daughter!" he exclaimed as he ran off to open up I.M.P for the day.
Meanwhile, Loona was laughing in Balin's room seeing the shocked look on his face. His mouth was wide open having witnessed that coming from his caretaker. "So, what'd you think?"
"That... was... AWESOME!" exclaimed Balin. "I take that all back." Loona then chuckled ruffling his hair.
"Thanks kid. Wanna some breakfast to start the day?" she asked him with a warm smile. Balin then nodded and followed her to the kitchen.
Balin went into the pantry to grab some bread two shelves above his height, and Loona picked him up with her paws so he could grab it. Soon, four slices of bread popped out of the toaster and Loona grabbed all four to lay across the chopping board. And Balin stood on a stool to help her with the spreading, just as they've been doing for the last couple of days together. For the boy's slices, he grabbed out a jar of hazelnut butter and slowly scooped it with the knife. Then, with her help, he slowly spread the butter onto the first slice of toast.
"Alright Balin, think you can try the second one without me?" Loona softly asked him.
With a nod, Loona let go of his arms and Balin began spreading the other slice by himself, in the exact way she taught him. She took a picture of this moment with her phone, feeling so happy as to have helped him do something he never did before.
As he thanked her for helping and took his toast up to the table, she once again felt like a mother to him on the inside. So with that smile, she spread her piece of toast next before joining him at the table as well.
AT THE I.M.P BUILDING:
As the work day was progressing for I.M.P, Balin was in the briefing room, wearing his disguise but also having a read of the magic library book that Moxxie had bought on his first day in the office to teach him the laws of Hell and its overlords.
