Author's POV
As Jungkook leaned closer, cupping her face with his long fingers, Ena closed her eyes, bracing herself for what was about to happen. Their unspoken desires hung in the air, their lips barely a centimeter apart. But just as their longing was about to be fulfilled, Jungkook's phone buzzed loudly, shattering the intimate moment.
The abrupt interruption pulled them both from their trance. Jungkook closed his eyes and cursed under his breath, while Ena's eyes flew open, the reality of what they were about to do crashing down on her. Jungkook released his hold on her and sat up, reaching for his phone with a frustrated sigh. Ena, still reeling from the moment, managed to get up and sat on the edge of the bed, her back turned to him, feet touching the ground.
Jungkook answered the call, his voice tense as he tried to focus on the conversation, while Ena sat there, her mind racing and her heart still pounding from their near kiss.
Ena's POV
I felt a wave of embarrassment wash over me. How was I going to face him now? Did I really just close my eyes and give him consent? I sat up in bed and sighed deeply, regret and shame gnawing at me.
Just then, Jungkook's voice on the phone snapped me out of my thoughts.
"What's wrong, Jimin? Why would you call this early in the morning?" His tone was harsh, clearly agitated. I couldn't hear the other side of the conversation, but I could see the tension in his posture. The way his jaw tightened and his fingers raked through his hair told me something serious was happening.
"How's he now?" Jungkook asked, his voice strained. He cursed under his breath, running his fingers through his hair in frustration. I stood up and turned to face him, concerned by the news he was receiving.
"Jimin, keep me updated on his condition," he said before hanging up.
Realization hit me. He was talking about Uncle Jeon. I approached him cautiously as he ended the call.
"What's wrong?" I asked gently, hoping he would open up.
He didn't answer, his eyes distant and filled with an emotion I couldn't quite place.
"Jungkook?" I called again, more insistent this time.
He chuckled darkly, a sound that sent shivers down my spine. "It's about Dad. You want to hear more?" he challenged, his eyes cold and piercing.
"What about him?" I stuttered, fear gripping me. I had never seen him like this before-so vulnerable yet so guarded.
"He's struggling with his health. He had seizures," Jungkook said, closing his eyes as if trying to contain his anger. The muscles in his neck were taut, and I could see the effort it took for him to stay calm.
My hand flew to my mouth in shock.
"How is he now?" I asked, my voice trembling.
"Why should I tell you?" His tone changed, becoming colder and more distant. The warmth and connection we shared moments ago seemed like a distant memory.
"Jungkook, please," I pleaded, tears welling up in my eyes. "I care about him too."
He looked at me, his eyes softening for a brief moment before hardening again. "He's stable for now, but it's serious. They don't know what caused the seizures yet."
Before I could say anything more, he stood up, walked past me, and left the room. My thoughts were a whirlwind; how could a person change so drastically in just a few minutes? He was someone entirely different now.
---
Jungkook's POVI entered the other room and sat heavily on the bed. My hands went to my hair, trying to calm the chaos in my mind. Everything felt like it was spiraling out of control. I didn't know what I wanted anymore. Was it revenge I sought, or was it her?
