Author's POV

Jungkook woke up and glanced at Ena's sleeping figure. Yesterday's encounter with Ena, his breakdown-everything came rushing back to his mind, and he regretted her seeing him cry. He sighed, closed his eyes for a moment, and then got up to freshen up. After some time, he emerged from the wardrobe in his office attire. Something felt off as he saw Ena still in bed. Usually, she was up before him, ready to go to university.

He went to her side and called her name, "Ena! Wake up, it's late." She didn't respond. "Ena!" he called again, this time more weakly, a hint of fear in his voice. Extending his hand, he gently shook her. Something felt wrong as he touched her hand. He then felt her forehead, and she stirred slightly in her sleep.

"Ena, you're burning with fever," he said, panicking. He tried to wake her up more urgently, and she responded weakly and irritably. "Wait, here, I'll bring you some medicine," he said, rushing off to get it. Jungkook returned with the medicine and water, helping her to drink before laying her back down on the bed. She was awake but too exhausted and ill to talk.

Jungkook checked her fever again and sighed. "Why did you follow me to the balcony last night? Look at you now," he spat, his frustration mingling with worry.

"Why do you care?" she asked, her voice weak but probing.

Jungkook gulped, momentarily taken aback. "I don't care about you," he began, hesitating as he searched for the right words. "I just don't want anything to happen to you because Dad wouldn't like it, and I don't want to have to explain things to him."

"I'll ask the maid to stay with you. I'm leaving for the office," he said, trying to avoid further questions and the uncomfortable situation.

He quickly left the room, leaving Ena to fall back asleep, clearly worn out from her illness. Jungkook spoke to the maid before leaving, instructing her to take care of Ena and ensure she doesn't skip any meals.

Jungkook continued to monitor Ena's condition by calling the maid several times throughout the day. He made sure that she ate her meals, took her medicine, and rested properly. He also checked to see if her fever had lessened, ensuring she was being well cared for even in his absence.

Jungkook arrived home and made his way to the room to check on Ena. However, he stopped short when he heard her talking on the phone.

"Taehyung, I'm fine now. Don't worry, my fever's dropped, and I'm feeling much better," she said. Jungkook swallowed hard, his expression darkening. "Taehyung, thank you for always being by my side," she continued before ending the call.

Jungkook entered the room, trying to contain his emotions, particularly his anger. He didn't glance at her, instead removing his blazer and tie and tossing them onto the bed before heading straight to the bathroom. Ena watched him, puzzled and slightly annoyed that he hadn't asked how she was feeling. "What's with him?" she mumbled to herself, irritated by his apparent lack of concern.

After a while, Ena continued to gaze at him, increasingly annoyed by his dismissive behavior. Unable to hold back any longer, she finally spoke up. "What's wrong with you?"

"Nothing," he replied coldly.

"You didn't ask if I'm well or not," she said, surprised by her own question.

Jungkook chuckled darkly. "You have plenty of people to ask you that. I don't think it matters much if I do or not," he said, his tone dripping with bitterness.

"What do you mean?" she asked, confused by his statement.

"Never mind," he replied, pulling out a cigarette from his pocket and preparing to light it.
