Sitting on the cold, hard hospital bench outside the ER, I couldn't shake the feeling of déjà vu. How many times had Ena ended up in the hospital since marrying me? Was it somehow my fault? The thought gnawed at me, a relentless whisper of guilt. I stared at the floor, the sterile smell of antiseptic filling my nostrils, as I waited in agony.Suddenly, I saw Taehyung rushing towards me, his face etched with panic. "Where is she?" he demanded, his voice tight with fear. His eyes searched mine, wide and desperate.
Confusion washed over me. How did he even know she was here? I hadn't told anyone-not even Jimin, especially after we'd barely spoken since that awkward rooftop encounter. "Who told you?" I asked, my voice edged with bewilderment and a hint of suspicion.
Before he could answer, a nurse appeared, glancing at a clipboard. "Mr. Kim?" she called, and Taehyung immediately stepped forward. "Yes, that's me," he replied, his tone urgent.
I stood there, stunned, a knot of anxiety tightening in my chest. My mind raced. Why were they calling Taehyung? What was going on? Nothing made sense.
I stepped closer, trying to piece together the situation. "Nurse, why did you call him?" I asked, struggling to keep my voice steady.
The nurse turned to me, her expression professional but with a hint of sympathy. "Mr. Jeon, he's Miss Ena's guardian," she said simply, as if that explained everything.
A cold wave of confusion and disbelief swept over me. Guardian? What was she talking about? "I'm her husband," I said, my voice sounding distant to my own ears. "I don't understand what you're saying."
The nurse maintained her calm demeanor as she explained, "The patient, upon examination, was found to have a scar in her groin area. We assessed her condition and confirmed she is receiving chemotherapy for her cancer. We called our oncologists, and they recognized her, contacting her listed guardian."
The world seemed to tilt around me. Cancer? Ena had cancer? My knees felt weak, and I gripped the bench for support. "C... cancer?" I barely managed to whisper, my voice breaking. The word felt foreign, unreal, like I was living someone else's nightmare.
Taehyung sighed heavily, a sound filled with resignation and sorrow. "That's right," he confirmed, his eyes meeting mine, filled with a depth of sadness and understanding I couldn't fathom.
Shock and betrayal washed over me, mingling with a suffocating grief. My mind struggled to process the information, the implications. Ena had been fighting this battle alone without telling me. And Taehyung knew. Everyone seemed to know but me. The realization stung, a deep, raw wound. I felt tears welling up, a knot in my throat tightening. My world, already on shaky ground, crumbled beneath my feet. Everything felt like a cruel twist of fate, a nightmare I couldn't wake from. I could only stand there, stunned and heartbroken, as the weight of the revelation crushed down on me.
I fell on my knees while nurse and Taehyung quickly held me..i looked at Taehyung eyes with my bloodshot eyes and grabbed his collar. "You knew?" He nodded.. I closed my eyes while i punched him, and he fell on his butt.."Why didn't you tell me? You bastard." i crawled to him to punch him once again but got punched instead. "Keep your tantrums to yourself, jungkook! i don't have time for you. I need to see her doctor.." he shouted.
-----------------Author's POV
In the doctor's cabin, Jungkook and Taehyung sat tensely opposite the doctor, who spoke with a grave expression.
"Her condition is weak due to yesterday's chemotherapy and the trauma on her head. We hope she will wake up soon, but we need to observe her for the next 48 hours. Please be patient," the doctor said.
