Author's POVEna left for the hospital, contacting Taehyung to accompany her as her guardian. She couldn't bring herself to ask Jungkook; their relationship wasn’t one where they asked each other for favors. As they arrived at the hospital, Ena's nerves were palpable.
After some time, they emerged from the hospital. Ena’s face was blank and pale, mirroring Taehyung’s stressed and ashen expression. Ena’s mind was elsewhere as she stumbled, and Taehyung quickly caught her before she fell.
"Ena! Are you okay?" he asked, concern evident in his voice. "Let's sit here for a while," he suggested, pointing to a nearby bench.
He supported her as they made their way to the bench and sat down. Ena remained silent, her thoughts racing. After a few moments, she broke the silence. "What will I do now?" she asked, her voice cracking. "What will happen to Sarah?" Tears streamed down her face as she cried uncontrollably.
"Ena, listen to me. Nothing will happen to you," Taehyung said, dropping to his knees in front of her and gripping her shoulders to comfort her. "You are stronger than this, huh?"
"I'm dying, Taehyung," she sobbed.
"Ena, please! Who said that? The doctor said you’ll get better soon after the treatment. We’ll start the treatment next week. Please, brace yourself," Taehyung replied, trying to reassure her.
Ena cried harder, her anguish piercing Taehyung’s heart. He couldn’t bear seeing his best friend in such pain. He hugged her tightly as she laid her head on his chest, patting her head gently. "I’m alone," Ena choked out between sobs.
"Ena, we’ve been together for years. Do you think I’d leave you alone in this?" he asked softly.
She looked into his eyes, her gaze filled with sorrow, and sobbed.
"Don’t worry. I swear I’m here for you, huh?" he said, his voice soothing.
Ena nodded. "Thank you," she whispered.
"Stupid," he chuckled lightly. "Come, let’s go and have a meal together. I’ll treat you to something nice," Taehyung said, trying to lift her spirits and change the atmosphere.
Together, they stood up, ready to face whatever came next, leaning on each other for strength and support.

Earlier in the hospital
"Ena, I talked to hepatologists, oncologists, radiologists, and surgeons about your case." The doctor sighed, looking somber. "You have been diagnosed with hepatic carcinoma. In layman's terms, liver cancer."
Ena and Taehyung's jaws dropped, and the color drained from their faces. Taehyung swallowed hard, his voice trembling as he asked, "What should we do now, doctor?"
"It's in the intermediate stage, but surgery is not an option right now as the tumor size has increased significantly," the doctor explained. "However, we have several treatment options. After discussing with my colleagues, we've decided to start with chemotherapy using Transarterial Chemoembolization, or TACE. It's less invasive and specifically targets the tumor."
The doctor paused to allow the information to sink in before continuing. "With TACE, we can deliver chemotherapy directly to the liver tumor while cutting off its blood supply. This should help shrink the tumor. Depending on how you respond to the treatment, we may be able to consider liver resection later."
Ena remained silent, still processing the gravity of the diagnosis.
Taehyung squeezed Ena's hand reassuringly as the doctor continued. "You'll need to stay in the hospital for hours for observation after the procedure."
