Mahnoor's POV

"Have faith, Noor. It'll all be okay." I looked at myself in the mirror as tears dragged down my face. I'd changed out of my huge dress and taken off my makeup, whilst crying. I cry a lot, but I'm so productive. It was the first time I'd ever heard him shout. My dad was enough. I tried to keep it in until I came back to the bridal room. It was difficult but I did it. The rumours about Shahmeer were clearly true.

I guess we weren't going 'home' tonight so I decided to sleep on the huge sofa in the room. When I say huge, I mean HUGE. There wasn't a blanket as it was a bridal room so I wasn't shocked but I sat down and realised it was a reclining sofa. Bingo.

I pulled the lever and turned in a comfy position. I couldn't help but think about Farjaad. What did Shahmeer mean when he said that he tried to harm me? Farjaad would never do such a thing. I knew something was off with Shahmeer's mood today but I didn't think it'd be this big.

I found myself awake for hours overthinking about whether Farjaad was okay or what state Shahmeer had kept him in. Shahmeer was known for being a merciless murderer and that wasn't helping me to cope in this situation.

                                                                                 __________

The sun had started to rise, which meant it was time to pray. I got up and went to the toilet to have just a body shower. I came out, dried myself up and got ready to pray. I prayed and prayed that Farjaad was okay and that whatever rubbish was coming from Shahmeer's mouth was wrong. The scene of Shahmeer shouting at me kept replaying in my head. Was I that difficult?

I changed into some presentable clothes that the maids had sent to my room yesterday. It was a tea pink suit that was a little fancy but it was normal for a newly wed bride and also because the man that made me his bride. It was pretty but not the kind I usually wear. It was quite early but I knew I'd be late after I'd finished what I was planning to do.

I stepped out carefully and two guards were standing outside my door.

"Uh- I'm just going out for some fresh air." One started walking behind me.

"I'd like to be left alone, if that's alright with you."

"Ma'am, we have orders from Mr Jafri to keep a guard with you at all times." Of course you do.

"Like I said, I'd like to be left alone. I'll be back in five minutes."

"Ma'am, but Sir-"

"I will talk to your 'Sir'. Don't worry."

"Yes Ma'am."

I walked down the staircase and through the hallway to the room he was in. I looked to my left and Shahmeer was sleeping on the sofa. I tip-toed my way to the door, making sure not to wake him up. I quietly opened the door.
