Mahnoor's POV
I was walking to Farjaad's office but my heart was still beating fast. I was so overwhelmed today. In the morning, he came out the shower and gosh, he looked majestic. His dark brown hair dripping wet and his muscles and abs stared at me and I couldn't stop taking glances. His towel hung dangerously low on his waistline, his v-line creeping through. But that wasn't it. When we went downstairs, he said something that felt - different? "She is mine and solely mine." Maybe he was just acting and I was being delusional. And in the office, when he caught me - I felt engulfed in a safe warmth. And when he let go of me I felt the world attacking me again with its coldness.
I knocked on Farjaad's door but there was no response. I remembered Shahmeer saying he usually isn't in his office and mostly in the canteen so I followed the signs on the walls and made my way to the canteen, after some wrong turns. I saw Farjaad sitting on the couch next to the TV. It was quite cosy in here. I walked over to him but I couldn't help but notice how everyone's attention turned towards me. They all went silent for a minute until I sat down.
"Oh, I wasn't expecting you to be here. It's your first day after your wedding, you should stay at home plus it's the walima today."
"Yeah but Shahmeer had some meetings I think with a few investors so I decided why not?"
"Well you made a great decision because I was getting real bored here."
"Why was everyone staring at me when I walked in?"
"Hm, lemme take a wild guess. Maybe because you're the wife of a billionaire who owns the biggest chain of hotels in the country?"
"Right. About that, I don't really like this whole paparazzi thing. No one really knew me from my dad's friends so I didn't have to worry if I had to go out."
"But your dad is quite a big business man. Less bigger than Shahmeer, of course."
"My dad didn't really tell people he had a daughter. Mainly because he wasn't proud of me and didn't like me much."
"Well don't worry. I'm proud of you for marrying a rod of steel and I really like you. You're a great daughter. You didn't deserve a dad like him."
"Awww, thank you but let's stop talking about these sad things. It's my walima day today."
"Of course! What are you wearing?"
"I actually don't know. Shahmeer picked all my dresses for all the events."
"Then you have nothing to worry about."
We talked for hours, which felt like minutes and before I knew it, it was time for lunch.
______
"WAIT WAIT! WANNA SEE SOMETHING?"
"YES!"
"Okay, 3...2...1...0."
Just as Farjaad said zero, Shahmeer walked in. Everyone suddenly stood up, including Farjaad. I didn't get up because I didn't see the need to.
"Good evening, Sir." They all spoke in sync.
"Good evening." I heard him reply. People returned to their conversations as Shahmeer walked to me and Farjaad.
"Looks like you two are having a good time."
"Mhm." We both said. He turned his full attention to me.
"What would you like to eat, love?"
"Um, have I missed a chapter here?" Farjaad looked at us with a confused look on his face.
I just laughed and Shahmeer kept quiet.
"As I was saying, before I got rudely interrupted...what would you like to eat?"
"I'll just have the pasta, please." He called over one of the people working.
"Could we have a pasta, chai with two brown sugars and my usual." He remembered my tea? I wasn't expecting that.
"So you aren't gonna order for me?" Farjaad gave a sarcastic offended look to Shahmeer.
"I am NOT your servant. Plus after seeing the pile of plates on your left, I'd assume you've already eaten."
"Well maybe the workers didn't pick up my plate."
"You know damn well about the quick service here."
"Why do you always have to be right?!"
"Because I'm smarter."
One thing I'd noticed in this week was whatever happened, he always kept his tone neutral. Even infront of his dad, his voice is already demanding as it is, but he had never raised his voice. Never shouted. I watched them talk about the meetings for a few minutes until our food came and Farjaad left to go home.
"What were you two up to?"
"Nothing much just talking about random things."
"I have one more meeting and then we can go." We started eating when my phone started ringing. It was on the table and I saw the contact...Rohail. Shahmeer looked up at me and then the phone and back to his food, unbothered. I decided to ignore the call and started having my lunch.
It wasn't even thirty seconds later when he started calling me again.
"Aren't you going to pick up? After all, he's your lover."
"I'm not that stupid to pick up his call." I wasn't. After what he tried doing...I wouldn't even think about answering to his texts or calls. I really truly loved him but I didn't know he'd turn out like this. It was mostly my fault because I married this man but, I barely got time to choose.
We finshed our meal and I had to admit it, it was pretty awkward but I had to put up with it and scrolled on my phone throughout the meal.
"Like I said, I have one meeting left and then we'll go straight to the wedding hall."
"Okay."
"You can sit in my office since the canteen is going to be empty in a few minutes and Farjaad is gone."
"Is your meeting online?"
"Yes."
"Sounds good to me!"
"But no silliness, okay?" It sounded as though he was talking to a 6 year-old. I mean, I do have the brains of one.
"Yes yes. Got it."
_________
I sat on the sofa in his office and he sat on his desk and opened his laptop. After a few minutes, I heard him speaking and assumed his meeting had started. I didn't get to sleep much last night and I was exhausted, so I pulled my legs up on the sofa and before I knew it, sleep took over me.
