“You went on a road trip without me?” Arlo asked the moment I saw him and started talking about the trip Landon and I had taken the day before.

It was still on my mind. I knew that he was changing, and for that reason, I fell in love with him all over again.

“Yeah, I just wanted some time alone with him. Plus, you were busy with the triplets and Jacob, so it's not like you would have time for me,” I replied, pouting, which seemed to work for me all the time.

Arlo shrugged his shoulders and took my hand while pulling me along with him. I don't know where he was taking me, but from the moment I woke up, he seemed to be trying to get away from someone or something.

“Why the hurry?” I asked, wanting to know exactly what he was planning.

“No reason, I just want to spend some time with my best friend, and this place is great! So, we can continue the day with some exploring on our own,” I didn't object to what he stated. He had a way of making everything sound fun.

We walked in silence for a couple of minutes, the sound of our footsteps crunching on the gravel path that Arlo seemed to know the way to.

Finally, we arrived at a pond. The water was crystal clear, which was so beautiful.

“Wow, how did you find this place?” I asked, feeling amazed. Arlo smiled at me and hugged me, not letting go, so I relaxed into it.

“Jacob brought me here earlier to relax a bit. I thought you might like it.” After he said that, we pulled apart from each other and sat down on the seats that were there.

This hotel was perfect, Jacob outdid himself this time.

“How are you feeling?” Arlo asked while gently rubbing circles on my growing belly.

“A lot better, no morning sickness, so I'm good. I can finally go where I want to go without wanting to puke or take a piss every couple of minutes.” Arlo laughed when I said that. It was something that I wasn't missing at all.

“Do you feel like things are changing between us? I mean, ever since I had my pups and got mated to Jacob, it's like we hardly spent any time with each other. My brothers and parents are still overprotective of me, and that won't change. But at least, they are allowing me to do certain things that they hadn't allowed before.” I gave him a serious look, not liking what he was saying.

“Things will never change between us. We are best friends for life. We need to find something fun to do now and then, just the two of us. I'm sorry you feel that way.” I wanted him to believe me. Nothing would ever get between us, that much I can tell.

“We are different, though, you don't see us acting immature like we used to. That's probably why you felt that way.” When I finished talking, he sighed while nodding his head.

“I hope so. Plus, our pups are destined to be together. Isn't that what we've said before? So, there is nothing that will keep us apart.” He chuckled while agreeing with me.

My stomach started growling as if demanding that I fed it. Arlo heard and asked me if I had eaten a vicious animal that was still alive in me.

I pushed him away from me, making him fall off the seat.

That's when I started laughing at him because it was funny to me.

“Get up, punk, I need meat,” I demanded, not waiting for Arlo to stand up as I started speed-walking away from him.

I'm not cruel. That was my way of being playful. If you don't like it, then you can kiss my…
