(Landon)
I lay on the bed, watching Micah with a smirk as he fluffed the pillow that he had.
The sight of him moving around, all cute and focused, warmed me, but I couldn’t resist teasing him a bit.
“You know, I thought we’d gotten past you kissing Arlo,” I said, raising an eyebrow playfully.
Micah froze, a hint of color creeping up his cheeks as he looked at me, sheepishly grinning.
“It was only a moment of weakness,” He admitted, shrugging.
“You can’t get rid of a habit that easily, you know?” I chuckled while shaking my head.
“A moment of weakness, huh? Well, guess I’ll have to remind you who you’re supposed to be kissing.” I wrapped my arms around him, pulling him close, but I was gentle, careful not to put too much pressure on his stomach.
He looked up at me, his brown eyes twinkling with amusement.
“Oh, so you think you can compete with Arlo?” he teased, a mischievous smile playing on his lips.
I narrowed my eyes at him, pretending to be offended.
“Compete? I’ll show you compete.” I grinned, my fingers slipping down to his sides as I started tickling him.
He let out a surprised laugh, squirming in my grip as he tried to pull away, but I held him close, just enough to keep him from escaping.
“L-Landon!” He gasped between giggles, his laughter filling the room.
“S-stop, you’re… making me laugh too hard!” I slowed down, letting him catch his breath as I held him close, planting a soft kiss on his forehead.
“Alright, alright. But only because you need to take your medication,” I reminded him, reaching over to the nightstand where I’d set them earlier.
He sighed, rolling his eyes playfully, but he took the pills and a bottle of water that was there earlier and swallowed the pills without fuss.
“There, happy?” He asked a glint of humor in his gaze.
“Very.” I leaned down, pressing my lips to his in a slow, tender kiss, savoring the warmth between us.
His arms slid around my neck, pulling me closer and deepening the kiss.
My heart raced as I felt his body relax against mine, every touch igniting something deeper within me.
I pulled away so that I could place my forehead against his.
“Promise me you won't kiss him again; I'm trying here, Micah. I don't want to go back to the type of person that I was before.” I said.
Micah looked up at me, his face softening as he saw the seriousness in my eyes. He reached up, brushing his fingers gently against my cheek.
“I promise, Landon. I’m sorry… I only wanted to go back to the way Arlo and I were before, but I won't do it again,” He whispered, his gaze never leaving mine. I could see the sincerity there, the vulnerability.
“It was a stupid, thoughtless thing, and I don’t want to jeopardize what we have.” Relief washed over me, and I let out a breath I hadn’t realized I was holding.
I leaned in, pressing my lips softly to his, a silent acknowledgment of the trust we were rebuilding.
His fingers tightened around the back of my neck, pulling me closer as we kissed, letting all the tension melt away between us.
The kiss deepened, and I poured everything into it. My relief, my gratitude, my love for him.
I wanted him to feel it all. My hand found his, our fingers intertwining as we moved together, savoring this shared moment.
With every kiss and every touch, I felt that connection between us growing stronger, reassuring me that we were going to last.
When we finally pulled back, I looked into his eyes and smiled.
“I love you so much,” I said, wanting him to hear it.
“I love you too, Landon.” He whispered.
He smiled, a little shyly, and I could see the love there, clear and bright, shining back at me.
I was trying for us, I didn't want to hurt him again like the way I had once done.
Up to now, I kept on beating myself up for it, and because of my promise to him, I tried to tone down the anger that I felt when he and Arlo were kissing.
Before now, I would have gone batshit crazy. I would have used the handcuffs that I had and cuffed him to the bed. Hit him, showed him that he was mine.
But now I have changed, I couldn't bring myself to hurt him regardless of me being angry.
I was trying and that's all that matters.
