Snape's Office, Near Halloween
It was a chilly October morning, and Halloween decorations were beginning to appear around the castle. The excitement for the upcoming festivities was palpable, but your mind was preoccupied with other thoughts as you headed to Professor Snape's office. You knocked on the door, and his familiar, stern voice called out, "Enter."
You stepped inside, expecting another lecture or additional tasks. Instead, Snape looked at you with a rare, inscrutable expression and handed you a parchment.
"Miss Y/N, here is the permission slip for Hogsmeade," he said, his tone neutral. "You have shown some improvement in your behavior and conduct. However, this is only the first step. You must now have your parents sign it."
A wave of gratitude and anxiety washed over you. "Thank you, Professor," you said sincerely, clutching the slip. "I really appreciate this opportunity."
Snape gave a curt nod. "Do not squander it," he warned. "You still have much to prove."
Back in the Slytherin common room, you sat at a small desk, the Hogsmeade permission slip before you. Beside it lay a piece of parchment and a quill. You took a deep breath, knowing that convincing your parents to sign it would be a challenge. They were still disappointed with your expulsion from Beauxbatons, and you had to find the right words to make them understand how important this was to you.
Dear Mum and Dad,
I hope this letter finds you well. I know I have let you down with my behavior at Beauxbatons and the subsequent transfer to Hogwarts. It has been a difficult transition, but I am doing my best to adapt and improve.
I have been given an opportunity to visit Hogsmeade, a nearby village, as part of the school activities. To go, I need your permission, and I am asking for your help in allowing me this chance. This trip means a lot to me, not just as a break from the school routine, but as a step towards proving that I can be responsible and trustworthy.
I understand if you have reservations, but I promise to conduct myself properly and make the most of this opportunity. Please consider signing the attached permission slip.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
Love, Y/N
You read the note over several times, tweaking the wording to ensure it conveyed both your regret and your determination to do better. Satisfied, you folded the note and attached it to the permission slip. With a final deep breath, you sealed them together and headed to the Owlery.
In the Owlery, the air was filled with the soft hoots and fluttering wings of the school's owls. You selected a sturdy-looking barn owl, gently attaching your letter and the permission slip to its leg.
"Please get this to my parents quickly," you whispered, giving the owl a gentle pat.
The owl hooted softly in response and took off, soaring out of the Owlery and disappearing into the cloudy sky. You watched it go, a mixture of hope and apprehension churning in your stomach. Now, all you could do was wait.
The days that followed were a blur of anticipation and anxiety. Every time an owl arrived during meals, your heart would leap into your throat. The Weasley twins, sensing your nervousness, did their best to keep your spirits up with their usual playful antics.
"Don't worry, Y/N," Fred said one evening in the common room. "Your parents will come around. They have to see how amazing you are."
"Yeah," George added, giving you a reassuring smile. "And if they don't, well, we can always forge their signatures. Just kidding. Mostly."
