Spinner's End
Once inside Snape's house at Spinner's End, he showed you around, the modest but cozy home filled with the scent of old books and potions ingredients. He led you to a small but tidy room. "There is a second bedroom," he said, gesturing towards it. "I can fix it up if you choose to spend the night in there."
You looked at him, a hint of skepticism in your eyes. "Was your intention in inviting me here for me to sleep in the second bedroom?"
Snape met your gaze evenly. "I want you to be comfortable and will respect your wishes," he replied, his voice steady.
You sighed, crossing your arms. "You know that inviting me here doesn't fix anything between us, right?"
He nodded, a flicker of regret in his eyes. "I know. But it's a start. And I wanted you to have a safe place to stay."
"Thank you for the invitation," you said, your voice softening. "I didn't want to go back to my parents' house. But I'll have to go back tomorrow and gather my things. I only have my uniforms with me."
Snape nodded again, understanding. "That's fine. Take your time and gather what you need. This house is yours for as long as you need it."
He paused, considering for a moment. "I need to get some food for us both. Would you like to come with me?"
You nodded. "Yes, I'd like that."
Digging through your trunk, you found something other than your school uniform—a simple outfit that would be comfortable for a trip to the store. You grabbed your money out of your bag, shoving it into your pocket.
As you stood up, Snape noticed the considerable amount of money you had. "Where did you get all that?"
"I earned it," you replied defensively.
"Not every question is accusatory," he said calmly. "I'm simply asking."
You sighed, softening slightly. "My parents are very controlling. When I was old enough, I took summer babysitting jobs and saved up a considerable sum."
Snape nodded, understanding more of your situation. "Are you planning on using the money from your estate?"
You shook your head. "I don't plan on it."
He glanced at you, his expression serious. "You don't need money when you are with me. I will take care of everything."
"I don't wish to be taken care of," you said firmly. "I can pay for room and board as well."
Snape sighed, shaking his head slightly. "You are terribly difficult."
You managed a small smile, appreciating his concern even if you didn't fully agree with it. "I know."
You managed a small smile, appreciating his concern even if you didn't fully agree with it. "I know." You went to the bathroom to change in private, putting on the simple outfit you had chosen. Once you were ready, you rejoined Snape and the two of you headed out to the food shop.
As you walked, Snape glanced at you. "Can you cook?"
"Of course," you replied. "But mostly French dishes I was taught at Beauxbatons."
He nodded thoughtfully. "I imagine they are quite refined."
You shrugged modestly. "I suppose."
Arriving at the small food shop, you both began to pick out items. Snape handed you a basket and you began to browse the aisles, picking out fresh vegetables, fruits, and other necessities. Snape occasionally added items to the basket as well, selecting ingredients with a discerning eye.
