Veronica wanted nothing more then to ditch the stupid party and stay at home, drowning out her thoughts with music. 
However, she knew that she already made a commitment, and that it was important she went. 
Turning the radio in her car down, she pulled up to the party, parking her car. 
Grabbing a pack of cigarettes and a lighter, she made her way out, instantly being greeted by Jackie and Jeff. 

"Ronnie you came!" 
"Of course I did," she laughed. 
"Well, there is a keg over there, let lose and have fun!" Jackie smiles at the girl. 
Veronica didn't need to be told twice, she made her way over, filling her solo cup with beer, taking a sip. 
"Hey!" 
Veronica turned around, smiling at Van as she approached her. 
"Hey, Van, you look like you're feeling better," 
Van laughs, "That's the alcohol doing it's job," 
Veronica nodded as she took another sip, her nose scrunching at the taste. 

"Hey, Ronica," 
Veronica groaned as she turned around, her ex boyfriend, Danny Watts approaching her. 
The two had dated for over a year in their Sophomore and Junior year, it wasn't until Veronica had walked in on him making out with a random blonde girl that things had crumpled down, leaving the teen girl heartbroken and angry. 
That lead to a string of messy arguments, drunken calls and drunken hookups. 

"What do you want?" 
"Aw, that's not a very welcoming, welcome," 
"I don't think it was suppose to be," Van looks at the boy, his baseball jacket slinging off one of his shoulders. 
"Nice to see you, Van," 
"I wish I could say the same for you," 
Veronica smiled at her friend, "I think that's your cue to leave, Watts," 
Danny shook his head, "Actually, Van, I think it's time for you to leave so I can talk to Veronica," 
Van shakes her head, "No, actually, I think I'll stay right here, just observe," 
"Van, It's fine, I'll meet you later," 
Van looks at the girl, nodding before hesitantly walking away, finding Taissa. 
Danny sighed, gently taking the girls hand, leading her farther away, "It was a dumb mistake Veronica. I think it's time you let it go. You and I both know what a power couple we were, just imagine how good we could be again," 

Veronica hated the way when he put his hands on her face, she could feel herself slowly cave. 
Her and Danny had been through this dance multiple times. 
And she had been hurt every single time. 
Through the year they dated, unknown to everyone, they had broken up and gotten back together a few times. The two would fight and she would cave every time he apologized. 
The cheating was a wakeup call, she had managed to stay strong through her senior year, but she hated the way his touch made her want to cave. 

"No," she shakes her head. 
"Come on, Ronica, we were each others firsts. We've shared so many wonderful things, lets not throw it all away," he whispers. 
His hands made their way to her jaw, moving so she was looking at them. "You know you want to cave, so just do it," 
This was the part where she would cave. Where she would grab his face and kiss him and his hands would move to the small of her back. 
Veronica looks up, her big brown eyes meeting Danny's cold grey ones. 
Veronica was about to respond, but paused when she looked over, seeing a guy, dragging a clearly high Natalie deeper into the forest. 

"Veronica?" 
"Shh, just a sec," she whispers, observing the situation. 
Veronica watched as Natalie was lightly pushed against a tree, she saw Natalie's startled expression then all it took was for Veronica to hear Natalie let out a small 'no' when he went to make a move for Veronica to make her way over there. 

Veronica began speed walking, Danny following her, seeming to understand the situation. 
By the time Veronica had approached them, Natalie was pushing him off her, the guy went to make a move but stopped when he saw Veronica and Danny. 
"Everything okay here?" Danny asks. 
"Yeah, me and the burnout are just having some fun. Feel free to leave," 
Natalie looked at Veronica, the expression on her face said it all. 
"Yeah, I don't think so, I'm going to take her and go" Veronica moved the guy aside, trying to make distance between him and Natalie.
