"Nat?"
Veronica sits up, Natalie sits beside her, her arms are wrapped around herself tightly.
The blizzard had snowed the kids in the cabin, moods were down and they were running low on food and water.
"Nat?" Veronica whispers again.
Natalie sniffles, Veronica hesitantly moves beside the girl, "Did you have another bad dream?" she softly asks.
Natalie looks at Veronica, her eyes are welled with tears. "I'm not a good person, Veronica,"
Veronica shakes her head, "That's not true, Nat,"
"Ronnie-"
"No, Nat, you aren't a bad person,"
Natalie runs her hands over her face, "I'm really sorry about Danny,"
"I know, Nat-"
"No, I'm really fucking sorry,"
"Natalie," Veronica gently takes the girls hand, "It's okay. I forgive you,"
"You shouldn't,"
"Nat, where is this all coming from?"
Natalie just leans into Veronica, the brunette wraps her arms tightly around her girlfriend, kissing the top of her head.
"I love you, Nat. Okay? That's never going to change,"
"I love you too, Ronnie,"
Veronica runs her hands through Natalie's hair, gently soothing her girlfriend, holding her tightly.
Veronica couldn't help but think of Danny, and their entire relationship, all the pain, all the love, it was all hitting the girl like a wooden spoon.

"Ronnie!"  Jackie smiles at the brunette, they had been at a party at Bobby Farleigh's house, 15 year old Veronica was sticking close to Taissa, Jackie being occupied with Jeff.
"Hi Jackie,"
"Jeff's friend has been staring at you all night!"
Veronica looked at her skeptically, "Who?"
"Danny Watts,"
Taissa laughs as Jackie points to the blonde boy. "Please, like Vee would be into a-"
"Shh, now wait a second," Jackie holds her hand up, "Let her talk to him,"
"Wow, who said I was going over to talk to him?"
"I did. And now he's walking over so..." Jackie grabs Taissa's arm, dragging her away.
"What the fuck? Jackie?" Veronica hisses, immediately putting on a fake smile when Danny approaches her.
"Hi, I'm Danny,"  he puts his hand out for Veronica.
Veronica smiles, "Veronica,"
"I know. You're the prettiest girl in school,"
Veronica chuckles, "Ah, a no shame flirter, I like it," she sips the bad beer from her red solo cup.
Danny shrugs, "Ah, I try. I figured a pretty, Intelligent, girl like you would like to get straight to the point,"
Veronica nods, "Ah, you and Jackie have been talking about me,"
He nods, "And Jeff. They keep pushing how amazing you are, figured I'd prove them right,"
Veronica tilts her head, "Well, I guess they didn't tell you how often I prove people wrong,"
Danny uses his hand, tilting the girls head up, Veronica feels an insane flutter in her stomach, one that almost made her sick, but sick in the best way.
"God, you really are stunning,"
"And you, really are cheesy,"
Danny scrunches his nose, "So quick witted,"
"I take pride in my wit,"
Danny's hand moves to Veronica's cheek, his hands are so cold, but Veronica didn't mind. His hands felt rough against her soft, milky skin, but she felt herself leaning in.
Danny leaned in, Veronica stood frozen as his lips made contact with hers. Veronica's brain finally started working, allowing her to kiss the boy back.
Veronica's first, real kiss.
One that wasn't from dumb spin the bottle or anything stupid like that.
It was real.
And Veronica loved it.
When he pulled away, Veronica stood frozen, staring at him, her big doe eyes met his cold grey ones. She tried to speak, but no words formed.
Danny smirks, "What?  No witty remarks?"
"I-I,"  Veronica had never been left speechless, especially by a man.
Danny laughs softly, "Let me take you out to the movie's tomorrow?"
Veronica nodded, "Pick me up at seven,"
The date ended with the two of them making out behind the movie theatre, Danny sharing a cigarette with Veronica.

The two had been going on dates, but Veronica was impatiently waiting for Danny to ask her to officially be his girlfriend.
She had been standing with Taissa at her locker, Danny being the subject, because he was all Veronica could think about.
"Why don't you just ask him?" Taissa almost sounds annoyed at her best friend.
"Because, Jackie said-"
"Since when do you care about what Jackie says?"
"She's my friend too, Tai,"
"Still. What happened to 'I don't have time for boys' or the 'They are just a waste of time'"
"That was different. That was before I met him,"
Taissa was about to respond, but groaned when Danny walked up to them, a bouquet of Lilacs (Veronica's favourite flower) and a mixtape in his hand.
Taissa huffs, slamming the locker shut, "I need to go,"
He smiles, handing them to Veronica, "Looking great today, babe,"
Veronica blushes, smelling the flowers, "How did you know I liked Lilacs?"
"You mentioned it on our first date,"
"That was like a million dates ago,"
"And yet here we are,"
Veronica smiles, looking at the mixtape, "Still very cheesy I see,"
"Mhm, just look at the title,"
Veronica flips it over, grinning as the "Will U be my Gf?" poorly written in black market, but it was still something.
Veronica practically squeals as she wraps her arms around his neck, kissing him right in the hallway.

"I don't get why you're so upset!" Danny yells, the two had been in his car, the beginning of Junior year. The rain pounding on the window almost as loudly as they had been yelling.
"Because!" Veronica flails her arms up, "She was hitting on you and you were hitting on her right in front of me! She gave you her fucking number and you took it!" Veronica exasperated.
Danny scoffs as he drives his car, "God. You can be so fucking dramatic sometimes! You're such a child,"
"I am not!" she was quick to defend.
"Are too!"
"Am fucking not! I am more mature then you!"
Danny chuckles, "Oh yeah, really mature comeback!"
"Fuck you! Don't flip this on me!"
Danny shakes his head, "I didn't do anything wrong!"
"God! You're acting like I'm not a human being and some type of machine!"
"Sometimes it is like you're a machine! God Veronica, you are like some fucked up robot who just malfunctions at the worse times!"
Veronica shakes her head, hating how she feels the tears well in her eyes.
She fucking hated how Danny made her feel so small.
So dumb.
So weak.
How he could make her cry by the snap of his fingers.
Veronica knew she wasn't any of the things Danny made her feel like sometimes.
But, she loved him.
She loved him so much her head spun.
"Pull over the car"
"What?"
"Pull over the fucking car Danny!"
Danny does and Veronica gets out, the rain immediately drenching her in water.
Her fluffy blowout practically defeated and her shit and skirt clung to her like a wet blanket.
Danny rolled down the window, slowly driving by the power walking Veronica.
"What the fuck are you doing!?"
"Going home! I can't be around you!"
"Get in the fucking car Veronica!"
When Veronica ignored him, determined to walk the three blocks back to her house.
Veronica could be many things, stubborn was one of them.
Danny slammed on his breaks, aggressively slamming his door as he approached her.
"Veronica! Get in the car!"
"Fuck off!"
Danny grabbed the girls wrist, making the girl yelp in pain.
"What the fuck!?"
Danny opened the passenger door, practically throwing her into his car.
Danny quickly got in, starting the car again.
Veronica stared at him, going to open the door, but Danny grabbed her wet shirt firmly, shaking the girl, the two face to face.
"What the fuck is wrong with you!? Do you want to get fucking sick!? Seriously Veronica, are  you fucking stupid!?"
Veronica stared at Danny, fear clearly displayed in her eyes as Danny kept a firm grip on her.
It wasn't until Veronica started to cry, Danny had seemed to snap out of his anger.
Veronica covered her face with her cold wet hands as she began to cry, she cried pathetically in the passenger seat for five solid minutes before Danny had moved his seat back, gently taking Veronica into his arms, turning the heat on.
"I'm so sorry, Ronica. I'm so sorry, I didn't mean it," he holds her tightly, reaching in the back seat, grabbing his Leatherman jacket, wrapping it around the shivering girl.
"I'm so sorry, Ronica. I'm so sorry. I don't deserve you," he repeated as he rocked her back and forth, trying to keep her warm.
"I love you Ronnie, I love you so much. I'm so sorry,"
"It's okay," she sniffled. "It's fine,"
That night, Veronica called Taissa on the phone, bawling her eyes out about the whole thing while she stared at the bruise forming on her wrist.

"Natalie?" Veronica whispers, her voice quivers.
"Yes, Love?" her voice is raspy.
Veronica takes a deep breath, "I love you. Thank you for treating me like a human being, and not a machine,"
Natalie looks at her confused, "I never thought you were a machine. Thank you for trusting me, for trusting me and letting me in,"
Veronica connects her lips with Natalie, for once in her life, she felt truly loved by someone.
