--Drew Borden
I wake up to the smell of bacon. My dad usually doesn't make breakfast, so this surprises me. I sit up slowly and look down to see that I'm alone in my bed. I slowly get out of bed and I put a shirt on before walking out to the game room. I look over the ledge and down to the kitchen where I see some bacon and eggs sizzling on a pan on the stove. Ally pops out from behind the wall and looks up at me.
"Good morning sleepy head," she says with a smile on her face.
"What are you doing up this early?" I ask, starting to walk downstairs.
Ally walks back into the kitchen to remove the bacon and eggs off of the pan and onto three plates. "I thought it would be nice to make breakfast. I couldn't fall back to sleep last night so I got up around 5am and started cooking."
I walk into the kitchen and lean against the counter and cross my arms across my chest. "You know you didn't have to do this, Ally."
"I wanted to," she explains as she pulls some biscuits out of the oven. I watch as she places a biscuit on every plate. I never knew anyone could look so good wearing an apron. Once she catches me staring at her she stops moving. "You know you can take a picture, Drew. It'll last longer."
"I left my camera upstairs," I respond, smirking.
She laughs and playfully hits my arm. As she takes off her apron my dad emerges from his bedroom. "Well something smells amazing," he says, walking over to us.
"I made breakfast," Ally says, handing him a plate.
"I wish I could stay, but I gotta run," he says, grabbing the biscuit and bacon off of the plate. "I'll see you two later."
And just like that he leaves.
"Well okay then," Ally sighs, setting the plate down.
"Don't take it personally," I tell her, grabbing my plate and sitting down at the table. Ally joins me as I start eating the food. "Ally, I've got a quick question."
"Shoot," Ally says.
"When we first met and we went out to eat ice cream... you actually ate in front of me. Why didn't you eat yesterday in front of me?"
She pauses for a second looking down at her food. "I was comfortable around you. I've never been that comfortable around anyone after my mom died," she responds. "If we're asking questions then I have one for you. How did you just magically show up at the party when I needed help."
She giggles for a second and I smile. "Actually to be honest I wasn't even supposed to show up at the party. I was going to hang out with my friend Arrin, but he made plans at last minute. So, I went to the party and I guess I just showed up at the right time. It was fate I guess."
She smiles and picks up a piece of bacon. "This is for you," she says, taking a bite out the bacon. I smile at her and continue eating my food.
"I know you want the 'D,'" I say in a low voice and she breaks out laughing. I laugh along with her, happy to see her smiling.
"You wish you could even show the 'D' to me," she says, laughing harder.
My smile drops and I roll my eyes. "Just wait you'll be begging for it."
"Shut up you dirty pervert," she says, smiling and blushing.
"Ditto you beautiful cupcake," I respond.
"Did you just call me a cupcake?" she asks, lifting her eyebrows.
"Yeah, so I can eat you up," I say, licking my lips and winking at her.
