--Ally Christian
Kate and I get low behind Drew's neighbors bushes. The paparazzi is on the other side, so we can't make a sound or a quick movement without getting caught. We start crawling to the back of the house, but we realize that we have to jump over the bushes and unlock Drew's fence to get to the backyard. Kate, who is in front of me, turns to me.
"This was a bad idea," she whispers. "We should just sprint to the front door."
My face falls when I realize that I have to get my picture taken while looking like a piece of crap. I nod sadly and she reaches up and undoes my ponytail. She puts my hair in front of my face and pulls the hood of my hoodie onto my head. She pulls her hood on as well and she counts to three.
We get up and the paparazzi quickly start taking pictures. I try to keep my face hidden as the wind blows my hair back. Kate and I run to the porch as the press starts asking questions.
"Ally! What did your dad do to yo exactly?!"
"Do you think he's a bad father?!"
"What's your opinion of your dad!?"
"What's in that box in your hands?"
I try to unlock the door, but I drop the keys. I put the box underneath my arm and when I bend down to pick them up I hear one questions that stops me.
"Are you aware of the fact that your dad is trying to get you in jail for killing your mother?"
I freeze, still on one knee. I slowly stand up and Kate gives me a look of concern and disbelief. She looks at the press, who is also silent except for the occasional clicking of the cameras. My eyes fill with tears and I turn to look at the press.
I take a deep breath before I start talking. "I d-did n-not k-kill my m-mother," I say.
"Your father said that you killed your mother on the day of your birthday and that you were trying to do the same to him. What do you think about that?" A reporter asks.
"That's a load of bullshit!" Kate yells and takes the keys from me, trying to unlock the door.
A male reporter steps up and says, "Ally, you were stuttering when you said that you didn't kill your mother. Are you lying."
"N-no!" I shout, but immediately curse at myself for stuttering. Kate pulls me inside by my arm and slams the door shut, locking it.
She takes my hood off of my head and looks into my eyes. "You killed your mom?"
"N-no th-they're lying!" I shout, trying to convince her before she tells the whole school.
She takes a step back. "Um I gotta go. I'll see you tomorrow alright?"
Before I can say anything, she's out the door.

I sit on my bed, looking at my phone again for the fiftieth time. School just ended which means Drew should be coming home soon. I open my box in front of me and rummage through it. I hit something sharp and pull away, looking at my finger. I watch as a drip of blood runs down my finger and palm. Once it hits my wrist I get up and walk over to the bathroom and wash it off. I put a bandage over the cut and I return to my bed.
I carefully remove stuff from my box to find the sharp object. I come across a pocket knife and three blades. I take out the blades and lay them on my hand, staring at them.
When I was in 6th grade I used these blades more than any other time in my life. That was the year my mom died. The year I lost my friends. The year my dad started hating me. The year my life went from very great to very horrible. My dad still thinks I'm the one that caused my moms death because he wasn't around when it happened. It was just my mom and I.
