A D R I A N
She was never supposed to choose him. She was supposed to choose me. I will make sure that Zayn remains the bestest mistake of her life.
She has been waiting for him.
I could tell.
The sedation I gave her might make her paralyze but she stayed partially conscious.
I could tell.
Even when she played dead, eyes half-lidded, body slack, I knew her tells. The tiniest twitch in her jaw. The way her breathing shifts when I enter the room. Like a caged animal trying not to betray its fear.
She's so good at pretending. But I'm better at reading her.
I always have been.
I have always been good at reading the room. I have always been good at making plans. At deceiving people. At hunting my prey.
Nyx.
Even her name feels like prophecy—goddess of the night. Ironic, isn't it? That something born of darkness could shine so bright?
She was supposed to see me.
Not him.
Never him.
Zayn, the golden boy in a crown built on corpses. The one who walks into a room and makes everyone bow. The one who took everything I was supposed to have.
The power.
The loyalty.
Her.
But I will erase them all.
He walks through fire and people worship him. But me? When I burn, they scream. They run. They call me a monster.
But monsters are made.
What ever the fuck made me, I couldn't care less but I will destroy Zayn and his fucking empire.
I paced because stillness makes the voices louder. They crawl up my spine, whisper in my ear, She's going to leave you again. She's going to run to him.
No. Not this time.
This time, she stays. She will stay.
Whether she wants to or not.
I looked at her again tied, trembling, but still defiant. It's infuriating. And intoxicating. Her fire. Her fight. Even now, drugged and bruised, she burns like a goddamn star.
And she used to smile at me like that. Back then.
We were close once. Or maybe that was just my mind painting a prettier picture of the past. But I remember her laughter. I remember the softness before the steel.
I remember a world where I wasn't a villain.
But Zayn always had to play the hero.
He took her from me like he took everything else.
So I'll take something back.
They all think this is madness. Maybe it is.
But what is madness if not clarity in a world built on lies?
They told me I was broken. That my rage was dangerous. That my love was obsession. But none of them know what real devotion looks like.
Nyx will.
She has to.
When Zayn walks in and sees her in white, wedding white, blood white, surrender white, he'll understand.
He'll break.
And I'll watch.
Because this isn't about her anymore.
Not really.
It's about proving a point.
He doesn't get to win.
Not again.
"I love her more than he ever could."
And if I have to carve that love into her skin for the world to believe it.
So be it.
