I felt awkward as I stood there, but to make matters worse, the woman noticed me instantly. "Oh, hello!" Her voice was kind and chipper. I nodded my head, continuously glancing between her and Leo as I made my way over.
I stood next to him awkwardly before staring up at the golden-armored man who covered his eyes with the visor of his helmet. "Don't stare too long, my queen." Leo poked my arm before placing his over my shoulders. "Or you just might stab yourself in the neck." The woman grinned as she spoke.
"So, I see you've finally married." The woman chuckled as she glanced between us. "But, you don't love her." Her smile dropped. "Otherwise she wouldn't be here." I wanted to look up at Leo for any sign of disagreement, but his arm didn't tense or flinch. He was perfectly calm and stable.
"I fail to see how my matters are any of your business, Rosemary." Leo countered but she just laughed and nudged him once more. "So serious~" She joked before turning back to me.
"Aww, poor thing," She pouted her lip and I had to force myself not to ground my jaw, "You must be wondering who I am."
"Naturally." I quipped. She laughed and folded herself over before wiping fake tears."Let's just say I'm a friend of your husband." I tensed at the sound of the last word. The man in gold armor cleared his throat. "Can we get back to business please? I'm annoyed enough that she tagged along." Rosemary faked a hurt expression.
"Of course," Leo said smiling, but I could feel the scowl radiating through the other man's armor. "Oh, don't tell me you don't recognize him, y/n?" Leo leaned close to my ear. I slightly shook my head.
The man in armor sighed before extending his hand to me. "Antonie." He stated as I took his hand. "The Knight of the Blind." Leo whispered in my ear and I stifled a gasp.
"Let's drop the formalities." Antonie let go of my hand, "Last thing I need is for another human to be afraid of me."
"I doubt she is," Rosemary studied me with her finger tapping against her chin, "I mean, she's married to the worst one after all." She gave Leo a smiling look that made my knuckles whiten at my sides."Business!" Antonie clapped in annoyance, "Let's hurry this up. I don't wish to be here with you any longer." He was clearly referencing to Leo. "Now, that's no way to treat your brother-"
"You are no brother of mine." He held firm in his disgust towards Leo."So, you're here to give me your book?" Leo asked with a relaxed tone. I wondered then how much they had discussed before I arrived. "Of course, I didn't come to visit."
In his hand was a small chest with a peculiar handle that I hadn't noticed before. He thrust it forward dismissively for Leo to take. "How did you come to find it?" Leo asked questionably.
"In all my years, I never thought the curse would actually be released," He turned to me and, even though he couldn't see me, I felt as if he was studying and judging my entire existence, "I took matters into my own hands. Turns out it was right under my nose."
"So, you got lucky?" Leo chuckled but Antonie just scowled. "Take it before I change my mind." He demanded as Leo slid his palm under the chest. "Oh, we both know you won't be doing that." He grinned.
"If that's all, then I'm leaving." Antonie quickly turned to leave, before halting and facing me. I kept wondering how he knew exactly where I was. "And, cursed girl," He said with a huff, "Don't trust him. He's not worth it."
Then, he finally left-slamming the large castle door behind him."Oh, but I think he is~" Rosemary joked. "And I think it's time for you to leave." Leo replied but she just frowned playfully. "Oh, come on, we used to be so close, but we haven't spoken in centuries."
"And I wish to keep it that way."
Leo smiled. "So harsh." She frowned before finally turning to leave, waving at me with her fingers as she did.My jaw tensed and I instantly moved Leo's arm off of me and made my way to the steps. "Where are you going, sweetheart? Don't tell me you're walking out on me too?" His teasing tone made my muscles tense as I continued to walk.
"What? Are you mad at me?" He asked, setting the chest down and striding behind me. "No." I lied. He knew.
I made it up the stairs and rushed inside my purple room, but as I went to slam the door, he caught it with his hand.
"What's wrong?" He asked, a cruel smile on his lips.
"Why do you care?" I spat back and instantly regretted how obvious I was being. "Don't tell me.." He shut the door behind him and inched his way closer to me, "You're jealous?"I flinched slightly and stepped backwards. "Maybe I am." I said earnestly since I knew he'd catch my lie anyway. "There's nothing to be jealous of, little queen." He slightly shook his head, amusement still sparkling in his eyes. "That woman is older than time itself but is still childish enough to get on my nerves."
"You didn't seem to be so annoyed when you were talking to her..." I mumbled with an unknowing pout as I sat down on the plush bed and turned away. "Wow," He laughed with his hand over his mouth. "You really are mad."
He closed the distance between us and planted his hands on either side of the bed. "Look at me." He said and I slowly turned his way. He had a wide, cruel grin on his face as he stared at me which made my stomach churn with anger. "I want to wipe that look off of your face." I frowned, pushing my hand against his mouth.
He slid my hand off of his mouth and leaned forward. "Then, do it." He grinned again as my heart beat out of my chest. I brought my hands around the side of his face and broughthis lips to mine. Surprisingly, he didn't pull away.
I slid my hands behind his neck and worked them through his hair as he moved his left hand to my hip and his other planted on the bed. He leaned forward until I was pushed on my back before he broke away and pressed his forehead to mine.
"Are you still mad?" He asked with a tilt of his head and I nodded, my arms still pulling him close to me, "What can I do to fix it?" He asked brushing a finger against my lower lip. "Tell me you want me." I commanded, fighting my smile, but mostly my growing anxiety.
He stared at me for a moment before a small, endearing grin grew on his lips. "I want you." He brushed my hair behind my ear.
"You're all I'll ever want. You're all I'll ever need."
