Y/n s mother, Jung So Min was waiting for her daughter and Ji Eun and as soon as the taxi was parked in front of the hospital she opened the door and instructed the nurses to take Ji Eun out of the car and to take her to the Emergency Treatment Unit (ETU) and start an IV immediately.
"Stop crying now alright. Eomma is here so i will take care of Ji Eun. What happened honey? Tell me how Ji Eun was like before she passed out?" Mrs. Jung asked from y/n who was tearing up continuously because she was worried about her best friend.
"You should explain so that eomma can have a proper understanding about Ji Eun's symptoms baby. So stop worrying and help eomma to cure her" Jung So Min said and y/n told her mother everything that happened from the time they left the library. She didn't forget to mention that Ji Eun was suffering for a headache for quite a sometime now that she was used to swallow a pill which was not given to her by a doctor.
"Alright. I will go check on her now. Will you stay here or will you go home?" Mrs. Jung asked and y/n said that she will stay with Ji Eun until someone from her family comes to stay with her.
"Then come with me. Promise me not to cry okay?" Saying that Jung So Min took the lead as both of them hurried to the ETU of the hospital.
In the Emergency treatment unit, Ji Eun laid unconscious on the hospital bed, and an IV drip was connected to her arm delivering a steady flow of fluids. Her face was pale and drawn from the persistent headaches that had plagued her for weeks. Y/N stood by her side, worry etched into every line of her face. "Oh my poor JiJi." Y/n thought as she was watching her unconscious friend with teary eyes. She wanted to cry but she knew she can't because y/n promised her mother that she is going to stay strong. Jung So Min promised her daughter that she is going to do everything that was necessary to cure Ji Eun so y/n knew that her friend was in safe hands. Y/n did not trust people easily but she trusted her mother more than anything so she knew she didn't have be scared even though she couldn't help getting worried about her JiJi.
Y/n s mother checked Ji Eun's pulse and heart rate first and told something to a nurse who was standing next her and left saying that she will be back soon.
After a few minutes Dr. Jung So Min, Y/N's mother and Ji Eun's doctor, came to Ji Eun's bed with few other nurses parting the curtains which were covering the girl's bed. "We need to run some more tests to understand what's causing Ji Eun's symptoms," she said, glancing between Y/N and the unconscious Ji Eun. "The headaches she's been experiencing could be a sign of something more serious than we imagined."
Y/N nodded, her grip tightening around Ji Eun's limp hand. "She's been suffering for so long. Please, do whatever you need to, eomma."
Dr. Jung So Min gave her daughter a reassuring nod. "We'll start with a CT scan to get a better look at her brain. But first, we need to transfer her to a room where she can be more comfortable."
The medical staff began preparing to move Ji Eun from the emergency unit to a private room. Y/N stayed close, their anxiety palpable. Once Ji Eun was settled in the room, Dr. Jung So Min gently placed a hand on Y/N's shoulder. "Stay strong sweetie. We'll get to the bottom of this."
Y/N squeezed Ji Eun's hand one last time before stepping back, whispering, "Stay strong JiJi. We'll figure this out together."
As Ji Eun was wheeled away, still unconscious, Y/N felt a mix of fear and hope. She was relieved that her mother was Ji eun's doctor but the fact that she was not yet diagnosed made y/n s heart heavy as she leaned back on that couch she was sitting on.

Yoona came to the hospital as soon as y/n called her and informed her about Ji Eun's situation. Both Y/n snd Yoona tried to call Ji Eun's father and her stepmother, but none of them answered their phones so yoona and Y/n decided to stay with Ji Eun until she is discharged from the hospital.
Ji Eun was still unconscious and she was brought back to the room a few minutes ago after finishing her CT scan. Y/n s mother didn't come yet so both y/n and yoona were expecting the elder wanting to know what has happened to ji eun and they hoped and prayed that it was nothing serious.
Yoona brought flowers for Ji Eun when she came to the hospital and she placed them next to the bed with the help of y/n and both of them walked to the couch to sit and wait until y/n s mother comes back.
They sat in the couch, closer to each other and their hands twisted anxiously in their lap. Yoona placed a comforting arm around Y/N's shoulders trying to reduce her anxiety . "She's strong, Y/N. She'll pull through this," Yoona said softly caressing y/n s back.
Y/N nodded, but the fear in her eyes was unmistakable. "I hope so. I can't lose her,Na. Not now. She was so pale and so cold when i brought her to the hospital. She was so sick. I am so scared Na." Y/n said trying to control the tears that were falling continuously from her eyes.
After what felt like an eternity, Dr. Jung, y/n s mother returned, her expression grave. Y/N's heart sank as soon as she saw how her mother looked . "Eomma, what is it?" Y/N asked, voice trembling with worry and fear.
Dr. Jung So Min took a deep breath, steadying herself. "Ji Eun has a tumor in her brain sweetie. It's located in a very difficult and dangerous area. There's nothing we can do to save her." She said trying to sound professional because it was her job but she knew that her daughter is going to break down as soon as she hears this so even though how much mrs. Jung tried to sound neutral, she couldn't stop her voice from trembling.
Y/N's world shattered. Both yoona and her stiffened as they heard the unfortunate news. It was a huge shock to both of them and no one knew how to react. "What about surgery? There has to be something you can do!" Y/n said in a small voice while looking at her mother hopefully.
Dr. Jung So Min shook her head, tears welling in her eyes. "Because of the tumor's location, performing surgery is impossible baby. Any attempt would be fatal. Ji Eun doesn't have much time left. It's a miracle she's held on this long. It seems like she had this for quite a while now. That poor child must have been in so much pain. I can't imagine how she handled all of it. I wonder why she didn't come to the hospital sooner" mrs jung said wiping off the tear that fell from her eyes.
Y/N felt a wave of helplessness and despair wash over her. She looked at Yoona, who was equally shocked, and then back at her mother. "How long does she have?" Y/N whispered.
Dr. Jung So Min gently squeezed Y/N's shoulder. "Not long. A few days, maybe a week. I'm so sorry, my love."
Y/N crumpled into Yoona's arms , both of them breaking into sobs . "How am we supposed to let her go Na? She is literally the light of our lives" Y/n sobbed hugging Yoona tightly and she felt how much yoona was crying as well from the way she breathed .
Yoona held Y/N tightly. "We'll get through this together. You're not alone." She said trying to make y/n stop crying because she knew that Ji Eun could wake up anytime now so they shouldn't be crying in front of her like this.
Dr. Jung knelt beside them, holding them both. "Spend as much time with her as you can. She will wake up soon. Make sure to Let her know that she's loved. That's the best we can do for her now."
