Y/N sank into the plush couch in the living room, her mind whirling with the events of the last twenty-four hours. The softness of the cushions offered a brief reprieve from the chaos inside her head, but the weight of uncertainty pressed down on her chest. She leaned back, closing her eyes in a vain attempt to push the worries away.
The silence of the house was almost eerie. It was so different from the life she had imagined, the honeymoon she had dreamed of with Jeongguk. She had envisioned warmth, laughter, and intimacy—not this cold, distant atmosphere that now seemed to fill every corner of their new home.
As she let her thoughts drift, the exhaustion from the sleepless night before began to take its toll. Before she knew it, her breathing had evened out, and she had drifted off into an uneasy sleep, her body succumbing to the fatigue that had been gnawing at her.
The next thing Y/N knew, she was jolted awake by the buzzing of her phone vibrating against the couch. She blinked, momentarily disoriented, before realizing it was her phone that had pulled her from sleep. Groggily, she reached for it, her heart skipping a beat when she saw Yoona's name flashing on the screen.
Y/N quickly answered the call, trying to shake off the remnants of her nap. "Hey,Na," she greeted, doing her best to sound cheerful.
"Y/N!" Yoona's voice was full of excitement, her energy palpable even through the phone. "How's the honeymoon going? Tell me everything!"
At the mention of the honeymoon, Y/N's heart sank. The memories of last night came rushing back—the coldness in Jeongguk's eyes, the harshness in his voice, and the way he had distanced himself from her. But she couldn't let Yoona hear any of that in her voice. Her best friend didn't deserve to be burdened with her problems, especially not when she was so excited for her. Also she was determined not to let anyone else, specially their parents and friends about this because y/n wanted to dig deep and find out why jeongguk is acting like this and solve everything as soon as possible. She at least hoped that she will be able to fix this somehow.
"It's... it's going amazing,Na ," Y/N lied, forcing a smile she didn't feel. "It's better than we ever thought it would be."
"Ah, that's so great to hear!" Yoona gushed. "I knew it would be perfect for you two. You guys deserved this after everything. So, where are you now? Still in the hotel?"
Y/N hesitated, glancing around the unfamiliar living room. "Uh, actually, we're at a new place now. Jeongguk surprised me with it. It's really beautiful here."
"That's so sweet of him! I'm not surprised, though—he always has been the romantic type," Yoona teased. "I can't wait to see the pictures! You better send me some."
"Of course, I will," Y/N promised, though the thought of taking happy honeymoon photos felt like a cruel joke right now.
Yoona laughed lightly on the other end of the line. "Well, enjoy every moment, Y/N. You guys deserve all the happiness in the world. And don't worry, everything here is under control. You don't need to think about anything except relaxing and having fun with Jeongguk."
Y/N forced another smile, though it felt even more strained this time. "Thanks, babe. That means a lot. I'll call you again soon."
"Alright, talk to you later! Love you, Y/N!"
"Love you too,Na." With that, Y/N ended the call and let the phone drop back onto the couch beside her. The moment the call disconnected, the fake smile vanished from her face, leaving behind only the deep-seated worry and sadness she had been trying to hide.
She let out a loud, shaky sigh, running a hand through her hair as she stared at the ceiling. How had things gone so wrong so quickly? The day she had dreamed of for so long had turned into a nightmare she couldn't wake up from.
