I wake up in a place I've somehow gotten familiar with. I look around, but he's nowhere in his room. I sit up and rub my eyes, trying to clear the blur. "Well, hello there," says Luca, leaning against the door frame in grey sweatpants and a white t-shirt.
"Feeling any better?" he asks.

I nod, unsure of what to say. "You have five minutes. Get ready. We're going somewhere fun."
"Where? And I'm literally in a hoodie and shorts. I need to go back to my house for that."
"That's completely unnecessary. You're dressed just fine. Now come on."

Here I am, seated in his car for about ten minutes now, completely unaware of what's happening. I mean, for all I know, he could be kidnapping me right now, but I don't think anyone would pay a ransom for me, so I guess I'm okay.

My mind goes back to the morning. "Lucas, how did you know? You know, in the morning."
He quickly understands. "I was, um, talking to Bella when there were traffic noises. I was about to close my window when I saw you... fall."

"Oh," I say. We continue the rest of the ride in silence.

"A fair? Lucas Miller, have you gone insane? Anyone would easily recognize us in such a crowded place, and it would be chaos if they did," I yell at the top of my lungs. He just smiles like a moron.

"Relax. No model or singer would roam around a random fair, at least not in hoodies. So we're least expected here. Besides, we can cover our faces with masks and pull up the hoods of our sweatshirts. Just chill."

I mean, he does have a point. "If this bites me in the ass, I'm going to kill you myself," I say, pointing at him with my index finger. He smirks and hands me a mask. We both get out of the car, and I nervously play with my ring when I feel him hold my hand.

"Don't be scared."
"I'm not. I'm excited. I've never been to a fair before."
"You haven't?" he questions, looking at me as if I just stole his kidney.
"I didn't have a very sunshine-and-rainbows kind of childhood, Lucas."
He nods, squeezing my hand gently, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "Ready for some fun?" he asks, his voice full of energy.

"Hm, where to first?" I ask, giggling.
"The Ferris wheel? Best way to start the evening, of course." He kind of runs, holding my hand, making me laugh harder. I follow him, laughing and holding his hand. We sit down on the ride, and I start feeling nervous since I've never been on one and have heard some pretty bad experiences from Maddie. But I guess no one would sit on it drunk except for her.

We both remove our masks and hoods since no one will be able to see us from this high. My hair, which I forgot to tie, starts flowing everywhere.

"Look," he says, giving me a gentle push on the shoulder. "Good lord," I whisper. In front of me is the most beautiful view of all of New York-lights shining in tiny spots, the whole city glowing from the traffic.
