After shopping, we all settle down at the food court to rest and eat since everyone is starving. I'm not sure what I'll do here. Lucas is sitting across from me with Mabel on my right. Grace and Phoenix are sitting in front of me, Celeste and Felix to my left, . As usual, Celeste starts talking, followed by Phoenix. I missed this. The waiter comes over to take our orders, and everyone starts giving theirs. I order the smallest salad and Maddie randomly stands comforting me, rubbing my shoulder .
"So, the ball-who's going with whom?" Celeste asks.
"Who else?" Phoenix says, resting his hand on Grace's shoulder, making her blush.
"Uh-huh, I'm going with Felix, of course," Celeste says with a teasing smile.
"I'm going with Lucas! Who else would go with him, I mean," Mabel shrieks, her high-pitched voice irritating everyone. She hugs him so tightly that everyone at the table is uncomfortable, including Lucas, who is politely trying to push her away.
"Okay... um, Ivy, who are you going with?" Celeste asks excitedly, bringing all the attention to me. I should be comfortable with attention by now-I'm a model, after all-but it's never that easy.
"She's going with me, of course," Maddie says before I can reply, resting both her hand on my other shoulder, hugging and leaning towards me.
"She'll have to, considering she has no other option," Mabel scoffs.
"Why would you say that, Bella?" Lucas asks.
I open my mouth to reply but close it immediately. "I actually go- Nah, you're not worth my time or energy," I say, watching her face turn red.
"Actually, she doesn't like these events," Grace says to Celeste.
"Why not? The ball feels magical, especially when you're with someone you love, you know "
"I don't. "
"I do," Maddie and I both say at the same time. She playfully punches my shoulder, making me stifle a giggle, while everyone else laughs.
"No, I'm kidding, but I find these events a waste of time and resources. People pretend to be something they're not while secretly hoping for each other's downfall. The huge amount of money wasted could be donated and used for something good."
"Okay, Mother Teresa," Mabel says, but everyone ignores her.
"Ah, I'm with you on that one."
"Damn, you're actually right," Celeste says.
"I said the exact same thing yesterday, and you told me to shut up," Felix grumbles, glaring at her, but one smile from her and he immediately melts. Whipped.
Suddenly, Mabel gasps. "Oh my God, Lucas, look! It's Eli Stone. He's so hot!" she gushes, practically fawning over him while Lucas looks embarrassed. "Oh my God, he's coming this way," she says, starry-eyed. I roll my eyes, not giving enough fucks.
