After getting back, I practically threw my heels away and took a much-needed shower. Even though I physically felt better, mentally, I still felt like a mess after everything that had happened today. So, I decided to take a walk in the garden of my house, which I had never once been to, even though I've spent quite a lot of time in this house now.

The cold wind caressed my face, and my hair was flowing everywhere. An unknowing smile spread across my face as I heard the sound of the water fountain in front of the driveway. I dipped my hand into the fountain, moving it in little circles. It was kind of calming and peaceful until I heard a car engine being turned off , ignoring that i went back to the fountain, but everything kind of stopped when I saw someone standing in front of the house gate. who is it , this late . the bigger question is that how did the guards let whosoever it is in ?

"Who is it?" I asked, unable to see as the moonlight was the only source of light present. I asked as calmly as I could. No one replied, but I could see the figure walking toward me. I took a step back, scared, but that quickly subsided when I realized it was just Lucas in front of me."What the hell do you think you're doing here?" not  replying he  takes a step forward, then another. He looks angry .

"Lucas, what are you doing? Stay where you are." Oh my God, he might be—

"L-Lucas, are yo-you d-drunk?" I asked, my voice trembling with fear, as every miserable memory rushed back to me. Scared, I took another step back.

"I'm not drunk, Ivy. I wish I was," he whispered the last part. He stood five steps away from me, and that's when I took in his terrible condition. His shirt was messed up, his hair ruffled, his eyes bloodshot and tired as if he hadn't slept in weeks.

"What do you mean, 'you wish you still had the courage'?"

He scoffed. "Every time I even try to touch alcohol, I'm reminded of the fact that you're scared of alcohol and drunk people." fuck, he remembers."H-how do you remember that?"

He shrugged. "Somehow, that's the only thing I remember from that night."

For a while, we stayed silent, but it wasn't the awkward kind.

"So, what are you doing here?"

"You were right," he exhaled loudly. "She was cheating. With Kaiden. Just like you said." He said all this while staring at the ground, anger visible in his eyes.

"You're way too calm for that kind of betrayal. I was expecting a fight or at least some broken bones," I said.

He laughed slightly, still looking away from me .  he takes his hand out of his jeans pocket—busted knuckles, bloodstains covering his whole hand.

"Broke at least 15 of his bones," he smirked, looking at me.

"You know, it doesn't hurt that she cheated. I kind of saw it coming, but what hurt was when I realized what I did to prove she wasn't."
