The next day, Yakimano returned home early, eager to spend more time with Y/N. He walked in to find her in the kitchen, her expression neutral but her movements tense.
"Hey," he greeted her with a soft smile. "I thought we could have a nice evening together."
Y/N glanced at him briefly, her lips pressed into a thin line. "Sure, whatever."
Yakimano's heart sank at her cold response, but he reminded himself to be patient. He approached her, wrapping his arms around her waist from behind. "I love you, Y/N. You know that, right?"
She stiffened in his embrace, her voice clipped. "Yeah, I know."
He sighed, releasing her and stepping back. "How about we cook dinner together? Your favorite pasta dish?"
She shrugged, her tone indifferent. "Fine."
As they worked side by side, Yakimano tried to engage her in conversation, but Y/N's responses were short and detached. He could feel the distance between them growing, and it was tearing him apart.
After dinner, they sat on the couch, watching TV in silence. Yakimano glanced at Y/N, her face illuminated by the flickering screen. He couldn't stand it any longer.
"Y/N," he began, his voice filled with emotion. "I can't do this anymore. I need to know what's going on in your mind. Why are you so distant?"
She turned to him, her eyes filled with a mixture of anger and sadness. "Why? Because I'm still hurt, Yakimano. You think a few apologies and promises can fix everything?"
He reached out to her, his hand trembling. "I know I hurt you, and I'm sorry. I'm trying my best to make things right. Please, just talk to me."
Y/N stood up abruptly, her eyes blazing with frustration. "Talk? You want to talk? How about we talk about how you locked me in the basement? How you went crazy and showed me a side of you that I never wanted to see?"
Yakimano's heart pounded in his chest, guilt and fear mingling within him. "Y/N, I was wrong. I was scared of losing you, and I lost control. But that's not who I am. I'm working on myself, for us."
She shook her head, tears streaming down her cheeks. "I don't know if I can ever forget that, Yakimano. How do I know it won't happen again?"
He dropped to his knees in front of her, his voice breaking. "I swear, Y/N. I'll never hurt you like that again. I'll spend the rest of my life proving that to you if I have to."
She looked down at him, her resolve wavering. "Words, Yakimano. I've heard enough words."
Desperation filled his eyes as he took her hands in his. "Then tell me what I need to do. I'll do anything. Just don't give up on us."
Y/N's expression softened slightly, but the pain in her eyes remained. "I don't know, Yakimano. I just don't know."
As the days passed, the tension between them continued to simmer. Yakimano showered Y/N with affection and attention, but her cold demeanor persisted. She pretended to be angry, pushing him away just to see how far he would go to win her back.
One evening, Yakimano came home to find Y/N dressed in a stunning black dress, preparing to go out. His heart skipped a beat at the sight of her, but he also felt a pang of jealousy and fear.
"Where are you going?" he asked, trying to keep his voice steady.
Y/N looked at him with a hint of defiance. "Out with some friends."
Yakimano's eyes narrowed. "In that dress? Who are you trying to impress?"
She smirked, knowing she was getting under his skin. "Just some old friends. Don't wait up."
He felt a surge of anger and jealousy. "You think this is a game, Y/N? Trying to make me jealous?"
She shrugged, grabbing her purse. "Maybe I am. Maybe I want to see if you really care."
As she walked towards the door, Yakimano grabbed her arm, spinning her around to face him. "This isn't funny, Y/N. I love you, and I don't want to lose you."
She looked into his eyes, her own emotions conflicted. "Then show me, Yakimano. Prove it to me."
With that, she walked out the door, leaving Yakimano standing there, his heart heavy with uncertainty and determination. He knew he had to find a way to break through the walls she had built around her heart, but he also knew that it would take time, patience, and unwavering commitment to truly win her back.
