Yakimano's words hung heavy in the air, the possessive claim he made ringing in Y/N's ears. Her frustration turned to anger. "I'm not something to be owned, Yakimano. I'm a person, with my own thoughts, feelings, and relationships."
Yakimano didn't like that answer, his irritation apparent in his tense stature. "You're my girlfriend, aren't you? That comes with certain expectations."
Y/N's eyebrows shot up in disbelief. "Expectations? You mean you expect me to just do whatever you want, because I'm your girlfriend? That's not how it works, Yakimano."
Yakimano's jaw clenched, his eyes narrowing. "I just expect you to respect our relationship, Y/N. That means not spending so much time with another man, especially one who clearly has feelings for you."
Y/N crossed her arms over her chest, her patience wearing thin. "Respect for our relationship goes both ways, Yakimano. It's not just about who I spend time with; it's about your trust in me and your belief in my loyalty to you."Yakimano's face reddened, his jealousy flaring. "Is it really too much to ask that you don't spend every other day with Chris?"
Y/N felt a pang of hurt. "You make it sound like I'm cheating on you. Spending time with a friend is not a crime, Yakimano."Yakimano's eyes narrowed. "It is if that friend happens to be in love with you!"Y/N let out a frustrated sigh.
"That's your jealousy talking, Yakimano. Just because you think Chris might feel something for me doesn't mean he does."Yakimano's tone grew darker. "I have eyes, Y/N. I've seen the way he looks at you. The way he touches you. It's not just friendly behavior."
Y/N gritted her teeth. "You're being paranoid. Chris and I have never done anything inappropriate. We're just friends. You're the one making it into something it's not!"Yakimano's fists clenched at his sides. "You're naïve if you think he's just your friend. He wants more, and you're blind if you don't see it."
Y/N felt her patience snap. "And you're being ridiculously jealous. I haven't given you any reason to doubt me, but here you are, trying to dictate who I talk to and spend time with."Yakimano huffed, his irritation growing. "I'm not dictating anything. I just want you to realize that some friendships can lead to more than just friendship, and I don't want you falling into that trap!"
Y/N shook her head, the argument between them getting more intense. "I'm not going to cut off a lifelong friendship just because you're insecure. Chris and I have been friends forever, and I won't let your jealousy ruin that."
Yakimano let out a frustrated growl. "It's not insecurity. It's me wanting to protect our relationship. I don't want him to manipulate you or take advantage of your feelings."
Y/N snapped back. "You're being overbearing, Yakimano. You can't just dictate who I can and can't be friends with. Chris has never tried to manipulate me or take advantage of me."Yakimano's voice rose. "How can you be so sure? You're too trusting, Y/N! You don't know what he's really thinking!"
Y/N shouted back, her own voice rising in volume. "And you're too damn jealous! I can't believe you're making this a problem! I've known Chris since college! He's been there for me through everything, and now you want me to push him away because you're insecure?!"
Yakimano's face twisted in frustration, but deep down, he knew he was fighting a losing battle. He recognized the unwavering determination in Y/N's eyes, the fire in her that wouldn't be extinguished by his demands.
With a resigned sigh, he finally gave up his argument. "Fine. Spend all the time you want with Chris. See where it leads you."
Y/N left her house, her mind filled with frustration and anger from her argument with Yakimano. As she walked to Chris's house, her mind swirled with the accusation that Yakimano had made about him, that he had feelings for her.
She reached his house and knocked on the door. Chris answered, a smile on his face when he saw her. "Hey Y/N!"
Chris stepped aside to let her in, closing the door behind her. "You seem a little annoyed. Everything okay?"Y/N sighed and sat down on the couch, running a hand through her hair. "Yakimano and I had an argument. He's being unreasonably jealous."
Chris chuckled, the corner of his mouth lifting in a smirk. "Jealous, huh? What's he jealous of?" He sat down next to her on the couch, his arm casually resting on the back of the couch.
Y/N groaned, the argument fresh in her mind. "He thinks you have feelings for me, and he wants me to cut you off because of it. It's ridiculous. You've never acted inappropriately towards me."
Chris shrugged nonchalantly, a playful gleam in his eyes. "Well, I can't blame the guy for being possessive. You are an attractive woman, after all."
Y/N rolled her eyes, not in the mood for his flirtation. "Don't start with me, Chris. You know how yakimano is."
Chris chuckled, undeterred. "Just because you have a boyfriend doesn't mean I can't appreciate your beauty." He shifted closer to her on the couch, his leg pressed against hers.
Y/N swallowed, suddenly feeling a bit more self-conscious with Chris's proximity. "Chris," she started, her voice firm but soft, "we've been friends for years. You know there's never been anything between us."
Chris's gaze darkened slightly as he inched even closer, his hand now resting on her thigh, just above her knee. "And yet you're here with me, not with your jealous boyfriend."
Y/N felt a pang of guilt as she stood up abruptly, feeling the heat of Chris's touch on her thigh. "I should go," she said quickly, trying to ignore the mixed feelings inside her.
Yakimano was waiting for her when she got back. He looked tense, trying to gauge her reaction. "How was your time with Chris?" he asked, his voice carefully controlled.
Yakimano's sharp senses picked up on her evasiveness. "Just fine?" he asked, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Nothing else happened?"
Y/N fidgeted with her hands, her heart hammering in her chest. "We just talked, that's it." Her voice was a little too quick, a little too unconvincing.
Yakimano's eyes searched her face, knowing there was more to it. He stepped closer to her, his voice low and gravelly. "Y/N, don't lie to me. I can tell when you're hiding something. What happened with Chris?"
