Weeks passed, and the uneasy peace between Y/N and Yakimano held, but only just. Beneath the surface, tension simmered, threatening to boil over at any moment. Yakimano had promised to work on his jealousy, but the doubts continued to gnaw at him, especially whenever Y/N mentioned Chris. She tried to reassure him, but his insecurities were hard to shake.
One evening, after another long day, Y/N was sitting on the couch, texting Chris about their upcoming plans to hang out. Yakimano walked in, and his eyes immediately zeroed in on her phone. He'd been doing better, trying not to pry, but tonight something snapped.
"What are you texting Chris about?" he asked, trying to keep his voice calm but failing.
Y/N glanced up, sighing. "We're just talking about meeting up tomorrow. It's nothing, Yakimano."
He frowned, crossing his arms. "Meeting up again? Don't you think you've seen him enough this week?"
Y/N's patience was wearing thin. She could feel another argument brewing and tried to diffuse it. "Yakimano, we've been over this. He's my friend, that's all."
But Yakimano couldn't let it go. The jealousy he'd been fighting so hard to suppress bubbled up. "Are you sure that's all it is? Because it feels like there's something more going on."
Y/N's eyes flashed with anger. "You're doing it again. You're making something out of nothing. I'm not cheating on you, Yakimano."
He knew she was telling the truth, but the fear of losing her was too strong. "Then why do you need to see him so much? Why do you need him when you have me?"
"I don't need him!" Y/N shouted, standing up. "But I'm allowed to have friends! You're not the only person in my life, Yakimano."
Yakimano's temper flared. "I should be! I should be the only one you need!"
Y/N was stunned into silence for a moment. She'd seen this side of him before, but it was getting worse. "You're being unreasonable. This is exactly why we keep fighting."
He grabbed her wrist, not enough to hurt her but enough to make her realize he was serious. "And you're not listening to me! You're mine, Y/N. I can't stand the thought of anyone else having a piece of you."
His possessiveness, once something that made her feel secure, was now suffocating. "I'm not a possession, Yakimano. You don't own me."
The truth of her words hit him hard, but instead of backing down, it only fueled his anger. "If you keep pushing me away, you're going to regret it."
Y/N yanked her hand free, her heart racing. "Is that a threat?"
Yakimano's eyes softened for a moment as he realized what he'd just said. "No, I didn't mean it like that. I'm just—"
"You're just what?" she interrupted. "You're just trying to control me? Trying to scare me into staying with you?"
"No!" he insisted, but his voice wavered. "I love you, Y/N. I just don't want to lose you."
"Then stop pushing me away," she said, her voice trembling with frustration and fear. "Because if this keeps up, I will leave. I can't live like this, constantly walking on eggshells, wondering when you're going to snap."
Yakimano felt the weight of her words settle heavily on his chest. He knew she was serious, and the realization that he was driving her away hit him like a ton of bricks. But instead of calming down, the fear of losing her completely overwhelmed him.
In a desperate attempt to keep her close, he grabbed her shoulders, his grip firm but not painful. "You're not going anywhere," he said, his voice low and intense. "You're mine, Y/N. I won't let you go."
Y/N's heart pounded in her chest. She could see the desperation in his eyes, but it only made her feel more trapped. "Yakimano, you're scaring me."
His hands loosened their grip, and his face fell. He realized what he was doing, but he didn't know how to stop. "I'm sorry, Y/N. I just... I can't lose you. Please don't leave me."
Y/N looked at him, her emotions a whirlwind of love, fear, and frustration. "I love you, Yakimano, but you're making it so hard for me to stay."
He released her, stepping back and running a hand through his hair in frustration. "I know, I know. I just don't know how to stop feeling like this."
"Then maybe you need to figure that out before we can be together," Y/N said, her voice soft but firm. "I can't keep living like this."
Yakimano's heart sank. The thought of losing her was unbearable, but he didn't know how to fix the mess he'd created. "Please, Y/N. Just give me another chance. I'll do better, I promise."
Y/N hesitated, her heart torn between staying and leaving. She loved him, but the constant fighting and jealousy were wearing her down. "I need some time to think."
Yakimano nodded, though the fear in his eyes was evident. "Take all the time you need, just... please don't give up on us."
With that, Y/N walked out of the room, leaving Yakimano standing there, his heart heavy with regret and uncertainty. As he watched her go, he realized that if he didn't change, he was going to lose the one person he loved more than anything.
But the question remained—could he really change, or was it already too late?
