Weeks had passed since Y/N had left, and Yakimano was beginning to lose hope. He had searched everywhere, reaching out to anyone who might have seen her, but each day ended in disappointment. The emptiness in his chest grew heavier with each passing day, the regret and guilt gnawing at him constantly.
He had started going through the motions, living in a haze of worry and self-recrimination. Yet, he couldn't bring himself to give up completely. Every time he left the apartment, he kept his eyes peeled, hoping for even the smallest sign of her. He had never felt so powerless in his life, and it was driving him to the edge.
One afternoon, while aimlessly walking through the city, Yakimano decided to step into a small boutique. He wasn't sure why he went in; maybe it was just to escape the cold outside, or perhaps it was the faint hope that being around things she liked might somehow bring him closer to her.
As he browsed through the racks, his mind wandered back to Y/N. He pictured her trying on dresses, laughing as she modeled them for him. It was a bittersweet memory, one that only deepened his longing for her. He was about to leave when something caught his eye—a familiar figure across the store.
His heart skipped a beat as he slowly turned, barely daring to believe what he was seeing. There she was, standing in front of a mirror, holding up a dress and examining it with a thoughtful expression. For a moment, he just stood there, frozen in place, unsure if he was dreaming.
"Y/N," he whispered to himself, hardly able to breathe.
She hadn't noticed him yet, and Yakimano took a deep breath, trying to steady himself before approaching her. His legs felt like lead as he walked towards her, each step filled with a mixture of fear and hope.
When he was close enough, he finally spoke, his voice trembling slightly. "Y/N..."
She turned at the sound of his voice, her eyes widening in surprise. For a moment, neither of them spoke, the air thick with tension and unresolved emotions.
"Yakimano," she finally said, her voice soft but guarded.
"I've been looking everywhere for you," he confessed, his eyes scanning her face, trying to read her emotions. "I was so worried."
Y/N looked away, biting her lip as she placed the dress back on the rack. "I needed time," she replied, not meeting his gaze. "I needed to figure things out."
He nodded, swallowing the lump in his throat. "I understand. I just... I didn't know what to do without you. I'm so sorry for everything, Y/N. I never wanted to hurt you."
She sighed, her shoulders slumping slightly as if the weight of their situation had finally caught up to her. "It's not that simple, Yakimano. Things got so out of control, and I didn't know how to handle it."
He took a step closer, his hand reaching out to gently touch her arm. "I know. And I know I have a lot to make up for, but I can't do that if you're not in my life. Please, Y/N, just give me another chance."
Y/N looked up at him, her eyes searching his for sincerity. There was a long silence, during which Yakimano felt as though his entire world was hanging in the balance. Finally, she let out a small, resigned sigh.
"I don't know, Yakimano," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I don't know if I can just forget everything that's happened."
"I'm not asking you to forget," he quickly replied. "I just want to try again. I want to be better, for you and for us."
Another moment passed before she nodded slowly. "Okay," she said, her voice hesitant but genuine. "We can try. But this time, things have to be different."
Relief flooded through him, and he nodded fervently. "I promise, Y/N. I'll do whatever it takes."
For the first time in weeks, Yakimano felt a glimmer of hope. It wouldn't be easy, but he was determined to rebuild the trust and love they had lost. As they walked out of the store together, side by side, he knew that this was only the beginning of the road to redemption. But at least now, he wasn't walking it alone.
