"I-I.. I wasn't..." I trailed off at which his smirk only widened.

"You're gonna spill the beans to me or should I call Kai?" He raised an eyebrow with a smirk but I kept quiet, feeling too embarrassed and guilty.

After a pause of a few seconds, he started "Kaii-"

"Wait-" I cut him off on my own as I stood there with lowered gaze, feeling ashamed.

I didn't look up to face him but I knew that he was waiting for an explanation with his arms folded over his chest and his smirk still there.

"Y-You.. you remember that girl we met yesterday?" I started and he affirmed, as I continued while keeping my gaze fixed on ground. "When I went with her... she said she wanted a favour from me.. and wanted me to bring the diary to her.. I was confused.. then she said that she wants to help you guys and that she knows Kai well... she had already said that there will be only a single part of the location. She said that the other part is in the diary... and only she knows where is it in it.. I wanted to tell you all.. but she denied to tell anyone.."

"She said that she'll be here at the same time today too... and if I take the diary to her.. she'll get us the second part.." I finished and sneaked a glance at Ryuga who appeared thoughtful.

"I'm sorry!! I didn't want to take it like this but I just don't feel that she's wrong..." I mumbled the last part.

"Let's go then." He said, and for a moment, I couldn't believe my ears.

"What?" I asked with confusion clear in my voice.

He shrugged carelessly, "Kai forcefully dragged me to the library and it was hella boring that I had to sneak out. And it sounds interesting. If anything, it'll be amusing to see how Kai will react, so I'll join you."

Is he serious right now?

"Let's go. If anything goes south, blame's on you though." He said as he began to walk out of there.

Should I be worried..?..

Regardless, I followed him to the botanical garden where she was already waiting.

"So you came.." she said but then as she spotted Ryuga coming behind me while annoying a squirrel who was following him for a cookie, she added in a somewhat displeased tone, "...with this guy."

"Sorry, but didn't have a choice." I gave her an apologetic look as I glanced at Ryuga who finally gave the cookie to the squirrel after having her follow him all the way here.

"Why so displeased? Got a problem with me being here?" He asked in a smug tone and Alaina rolled her eyes at this.

"Let's get to the business." She clearly ignored him and his statement in such a calm way which definitely got on his nerves.

"You brought it?" She asked at which I glanced at Ryuga who didn't seem to protest so I nodded and held it out to her.

She quickly took it from my hand and began to examine it's covers. Then after a couple of minutes, she peeled off the back cover, to reveal a paper. Without sparing a single glance at it, she held it out to Ryuga who was intently looking at her actions.

He took it in his hand and gave it a quick look before nodding in approval.

"Now, the diary." He held his hand out demandingly.

"Yeah, just let me get the cover back on properly." She said as she tinkered with the cover in an attempt to fix it.

"You can get back now. Wait outside the garden, I'll follow you in a while." Ryuga said as he snatched the diary from her and shoved it in my hands impatiently.
