Eliana
It's raining like there's no tomorrow.
How did I overhear it this whole time?
I rush outside and rip the clothes off the clothesline.
"What are you—"
Fynn cuts himself off mid-sentence and runs out to help me with the white laundry.
They're all wet.
It's no use.
I drop the clothes onto the grass.
I'll have to wash them again anyway.
I remove my glasses dropping them on the clothes too.
"What are you doing?"
"I'll have to wash them again anyway."
I chuckle once and tilt my head backwards.
I close my eyes as the water drops splash onto my face, my arms, my neck.
They soak my apron and sundress.
It's so peaceful.
I exhale before lifting up the soaked laundry and begin to walk back to the house.
Fynn stops me by my arm.
He pulls me towards him and kisses me.
My heart skips a beat.
The clothes drop to the grass.
His hands hold my cheeks.
I grab his shirt, pulling him closer to me.
"Why are you mad at me? Whatever I have done wrong, I'm sorry", he pants against my mouth.
"I'm not mad at you."
"Why are you avoiding me then?"
"Because", I loosen my mouth from his and remove his arms from me, taking a step back, "I cannot bear the disappointment in your eyes."
"What? What are you talking about?"
"You said it's not my fault and I know it isn't but", tears roll down my cheeks, "but your eyes tell a complete different story."
"What do they tell you then?", he takes a step closer to me.
The rain is so loud, his words are almost inaudible for me to hear.
"That you're disappointed in me."
His eyebrows fly up.
"That you're in pain because I couldn't bring your child to you and I can't take it", I turn around, walking away, "it hurts."
He grabs my arm and I stumble against his chest.
He hugs me.
So tightly.
His arms hold my waist.
