Eliana

"Morning."

I turn my head around, meeting my cousins face.

"Good morning", I smile.

He stretches himself, holding his fists in front of his eyes.

The sun is shining this morning.

He sits down next to me.

I take a sip from my coffee.

"What are you reading?", he nods at my bible.

It's sad that he doesn't even recognize a bible.

It differs so much from any other book.

Inside and out.

"The bible", I smile.

He nods, looking away.

I continue reading.

"Eli?"

I look up, "yes, Nic?"

"How does Jesus save us all? Fynn told me yesterday that He saved us by dying for us but what does Him dying have to do with saving us? I-I don't mean to sound disrespectful I just... don't understand."

"Alright, so you know that there is evil and sin, right?"

"Yes."

"So, we are sinful people who aren't perfect. We were without sin when we were born and we were as white as a lamb. Over time our white gowns were stained with blood, because we sin, meaning we do evil. Jesus was a perfect human being, He never committed a sin. When we believe that He died for our sins and we truly love Him, He washes our blood stained clothes white again", I look at him, "you... understand?"

"Not really."

I look up, pursing my lips.

"Okay, when you go to court because you have broken the law, the judge will make a judgment, yes?"

"Yes", he nods.

"You will get a penalty because you went against the law but you can bail yourself out. The judge names a price and you have to pay it. The same thing happens when you die. God is a good and fair judge which means He has to give you a penalty. The penalty is hell."

"But when He loves me why does He want to give me pain?"

"He doesn't, that's why He took the fall for you. Okay wait, God is a loving God who gave you a free will. He doesn't want to force you to spend eternity with Him. When you don't choose God, He accepts your decision and that's why He sends you to hell. Because then you get to live separate from Him, right?"

"Understood", he nods.

"Okay great, back to the judge thing. So, the penalty you could face one day is hell. You would go to hell but when you believe that Jesus Christ payed the price with his blood on the cross, you are bailed free."

"So He's my golden ticket."

I tilt my head, "He is your only ticket but you have to love Him and follow Him."

He nods and turns his head to the door.

"Well look who's eavesdropping", he says.

I turn my head to the door.

Fynn watches us, his gaze is so soft.

"You will most definitely teach our kids that comparison", he rests his hands on my shoulders.

I chuckle.

"Talking about kids, Monica told me you're pregnant. Congrats!"

Fynn caresses my shoulders lightly.
