The silver pendant overturned in my palm multiple times, the pads of my fingers flipping it relentlessly. Giggles and squeals were heard from the next room over, and I couldn't help but smile at the sweet melody. His laugh followed, which caused my grin to widen even more. Footsteps wracked down the hallway, and two little boys bound in with their smiles blaring. Following shortly behind was my husband, who leaned against the doorframe and crossed his arms. I clasped my scarred, calloused hand around the pendant, glancing up at him with pursed lips.
"What do you have there, chīsana usagi?"
His voice was a soft remedy, a cure to any sorrows I had pent up. Smooth and sweet, like sweet honey dripping from it's wand. Shaking my head softly, I chuckled, "You haven't called me that in a long time, Genji."
Laughing softly in response, he took a seat next to me, Helio and Jackson clamoring up as well and jumping on the bed. Genji took my hand and gently unwound my fingers, eyes flicking up to me with curiosity.
"I received a call today." I said, letting the pendant slide into his palm. He played with it a bit as well until the kids caught sight of it. Their wide, starstruck eyes grew enamored with it, as it bore scratches and small indents from the memories it held.
"From?" Genji asked, placing a hand on my thigh still focused on the small outlines.
"Winston," His head snapped to mine, eyes wide. After everything that had gone down at Volskaya Industries, we had taken a step back from Blackwatch, and my rehabilitation had played a big role in that. It took months to feel like myself again, to live like a normal human, despite only being in Talon's clutches for such a short period of time.
Some days are better than others, night terrors and a horrific case of PTSD following the tragedy. I had been honorably discharged, and Genji had taken his leave to be with me. Dr. Helio offered his own forms of physical therapy until his passing, thus leaving Reggie to take over the shop and continue his practices. Jack and Reyes saw to it that Genji and I would live a peaceful life and assured we would be protected under fake names and a relocation.
This act of assuring we would live a peaceful life never seemed to be reciprocated between the two of them, and they stopped seeing eye to eye. They never had, but there was a final straw that had broken the back of Blackwatch and it had been dismantled. That was the last Genji and I had heard, not being informed on any of the details. All of our former comrades had been scattered in the wind with no communication up until the point of contact from Winston.
I could sense the fear rise in Genji at the mention of a familiar Overwatch name, tensing at what it may entail. He had no intentions of rejoining anytime soon. We had a family now.
"Who's Winton, mama?" Helio asked, resting his chin on my shoulder. I ruffled his hair, smiling.
"An old friend, baby."
"What did he say?" Genji's quick words were laced with concern, and I placed a hand on top of his, running a thumb across his knuckles.
"There's been a recall. They need us." I said slowly, wanting the news to come across as softly as I could. Genji's eyes searched mine for a brief second before sighing.
"Watashi no ai, we have made a life for ourselves. Are you sure-"
"Genji, they provided all the resources necessary to save my life. I have never been sure of anything more aside from loving you."
He hesitated, looking back down at the pendant and nodding slowly, "If this is what you want, I will be at your side the entire way."
Smiling, I kissed his scarred lips with my own, causing gags from Helio and Jackson. I smirked and turned over my shoulder to grab the twins, one in each arm, and began kissing all over their faces. Squirming and giggling in my grasp, I caught a small glimpse of Genji smiling from ear to ear out of the corner of my eye.
"What?" I asked, allowing the kids to catch their breaths.
"Anata wa watashi ga imamade me o muketa naka de mottomo utsukushī monodesu." I rolled my eyes at his native tongue, giggling. The only word I could decipher was beautiful.
"You know I can't understand you," I smiled, letting the kids crawl out of my arms and run off to play.
"Hm, but can you understand..." Leaning into my ear, a slew of words pooled from his lips that caused my face to heat up and eyes to widen. I slapped his chest, smiling with embarrassment.
"Genji, don't let the kids hear you talk like that!"
"Is that a no?"
I leaned over to glance down the hallway, making sure the kids were out of earshot. I turned back to him and gave him a string of kisses from his temple to his collarbone, "Once the kids are asleep."
"Bedtime!" Genji jumped up with excitement and beamed, causing me to roll my eyes. A series of annoyed groans and protests came from the playroom.
"It's 6pm, Genji."
"And? If we are to accept this recall we have to start working on our cardio," I pinched the bridge of my nose, trying to mask a grin. Genji pulled my wrists away and peppered my face in more kisses, lulling a laugh from me. More gags and fake yacking came from the hallway, and my chest heaved with laughter from the sight.
Pulling away for a brief second to catch our breath, I found myself once again entranced with those deep sienna eyes. A feeling of love and safety engulfed me, my cheeks nearly in pain from the large smile on my lips.
Had you asked me five years ago I would happily be a mother to the sweetest twins, wife of the most amazing husband, or a badass agent that went to hell and back I would have called you crazy.
Well...
Call me insane- because baby? I'm all of the above.
Thank you for 10k :,)
Have a lovely day <3
