Sitting on the edge of the bed, a wave of nervous tension washed over me. I glanced at my reflection in the mirror, my fingers anxiously picking at an imagined spot on my dress.
"Stop doing that. You're going to ruin your look," Miriana snapped, her voice cutting through my spiraling thoughts. I knew she was right, my jittery behavior a telltale sign of my anxiety. I looked over at her, admiring how stunning she appeared in her golden outfit, exuding an ethereal glow that seemed almost otherworldly.
I took a deep breath, trying to steady myself. Miriana's presence was a stark reminder of the poise and confidence I needed to channel. She looked like a goddess, effortlessly composed, while I felt like a bundle of nerves. But I knew I had to pull myself together. Today was too important to let my anxiety get the better of me.
I looked into the mirror and saw a beautiful woman staring back at me. It was me. I looked stunning in this exquisite red wedding gown. I chose red over white because, for me, red is not just a color but an emotion, a statement. Only the members of the cartel understand its true significance. My love for this color blossomed long before I even knew how to spell it.
My makeup was elegantly done, and a beautiful red crown adorned my head, resting beneath a delicate veil. I paired my gown with matching red heels and a diamond set-a treasured inheritance from my mother-in-law.
"Should I run away?" I asked, half-joking, half-serious.
"Well, you can try, but if Alejandro catches you, I can't promise what will happen," Miriana teased with a playful glint in her eye.
Oh gosh! Alejandro would definitely tie me down to his bed if I ran away this time. But why was I feeling so nervous? I should be happy-ecstatic, even. I was about to marry the love of my life. Is this what they call cold feet before the wedding?
I was jolted back to reality when the door to my room swung open and Sandra walked in, looking stunning in her golden gown.
"You both are matching?" I asked, unable to hide my surprise.
Sandra chuckled and replied, "Well, Miriana has an amazing fashion sense. It was her idea for us bridesmaids to wear golden gowns to complement your look."
