I draped my cardigan over my shoulders and took one last look at myself in the mirror. My hair was styled just right, my makeup subtle but flattering, and my outfit—a cute dress paired with my favourite boots—made me feel confident. I couldn't help but smile a little at my reflection, feeling a flutter of excitement.

Taylor was lying on her bed, engrossed in a book. She'd been quiet the whole time I was getting ready, her only sign of life being the occasional turn of a page. But as I began to chuck a few last-minute things into my purse, she finally spoke, her voice carrying a note of curiosity. "Aren't you a bit dressed up to see Dr. Torres?" she questioned, her eyes peeking over the top of her book.

I glanced at her, a small smile playing on my lips. "Actually, I'm not going today," I said, trying to sound casual. "I made last-minute plans to see Camden."

Taylor's eyes widened, and she set her book down on her bed without bothering to bookmark her page. "Oh my God. Again?" Her tone was a mix of surprise and amusement.

I nodded, feeling a bit sheepish but unable to hide my excitement. "Yeah."

"You're skipping out on an appointment to see this girl..." she trailed off, her expression turning playful.

I hesitated, trying to justify my decision. "Well...it's just this once," I said, though even I could hear the uncertainty in my voice.

Taylor smirked, shaking her head. "Yeah, and once turns into twice," she teased, her eyes sparkling with mischief.

I rolled my eyes, though I couldn't help but laugh. "Okay, okay. You've made your point."

She sat up, crossing her legs and leaning forward, her curiosity evident. "So, what's so special about this girl that you're willing to skip an appointment?"

I paused, thinking about Camden. The way her eyes lit up when she talked about something she loved, the way our shoulders brushed as we walked together, the feeling of connection that seemed to grow stronger with each passing moment. "She's...different," I said finally, struggling to put my feelings into words. "There's just something about her that makes me want to spend more time with her. I can't explain it."

Taylor's expression softened, and she gave me a knowing smile. "Sounds like you've got it bad, Nora."

I blushed, looking down at my hands. "Maybe," I admitted. "But I think it's worth it."

She nodded, her teasing giving way to genuine support. "Well, then go for it. Just don't forget about your appointments entirely, okay?"

I grinned, feeling a rush of gratitude for her understanding. "I won't. Thanks, Tay."

With a final nod, I slung my purse over my shoulder and headed for the door, my heart racing with anticipation. I couldn't wait to see Camden again, to continue exploring whatever this was between us. As I stepped out into the hallway, I took a deep breath, ready for whatever the day had in store.
