Taking a sip only to realize my coffee has gone cold, guess I got distracted in that report. I stand up needing to stretch my legs for a bit, I make my way to the break room. Getting weird looks as I go looking for the coffee my new personal assistant Tiffany comes up to me.
"Um Sir? Can I get you something?"
"Naw, I'm just looking for the coffee, got distracted and need a new cup."
"Sir, I can get you some more coffee."
"You went through the trouble for the first cup I didn't drink. I don't mind making some."
"Um Sir, we don't have a coffee pot anymore. We go downstairs and get the coffee from the kiosk in the lobby." That's new, we had a coffee pot in the break room last week, wonder why we got rid of it?
"Perfect! I need to stretch my legs for a bit. Do you want a cup Tiffany?"
Tiffany just looked at me floored that I would ask her if she wanted coffee. It's times like these I wish Martha didn't retire. This company has been in my family for generations but us children are required to work from the ground up. I like to think I'm down to Earth and approachable. Yeah I haven't really been myself since Lil passed but I couldn't have changed that much right?
"No thank you Sir?"
"Alright, I'll be back in a few."
Walking to the elevator feeling better for my mid-morning break from my desk. When I reach the lobby I run into my younger cousin who just started with the company texting on his phone, Damien knows better than to be texting while on the main floor.
"Damien!" I called out.
Jumping and pocketing his phone he looks over to me and lets out a breath. "Geez Liam I thought you were Ronnie. You scared me. What's up?"
"You know texting on the main floor isn't allowed. Have you finished mopping?" I ask since he is using the mop as if it was a crutch to hold him up. Completely ruining the mop head.
"Uh, no. I mean not yet my girl was just letting me know about her day and asking what time I got off."
"It's 10 in the morning and you work the same hours every day when you aren't in school. How does she not know what time you get off? Get back to work and stay off your phone in the lobby."
"Yeah I know. You aren't gonna tell Ronnie right?"
Ronnie is my younger brother who runs the human resources part of the company so if he is worried about Ronnie that just means he has been getting on people's nerves for not working.
Sighing, I say, "Not this time."
"Thanks man, you know you're my fav cousin!"
Shaking my head I go to the kiosk and grab another coffee seeing Damien finally back to work. I go up to check on my dear brother and get the full story on how Damien is doing here. Walking onto the human resource floor I can hear my brother yelling in his office while his staff look alarmed at their desks.
Neglecting to knock I go into his office closing the door behind me I stare at my brother questioning who he could possibly be yelling at. He just hangs up on them once he notices I'm standing here and starts pacing the floor.
"Ron, what's wrong?"
"I will not let that person ruin this family again! He isn't welcome in this state and he knows it!"
Knowing who the he is doesn't explain what's wrong. "What happened?" I pried.
"Got word Wolf Enterprise is trying to expand and wants an office here in Charleston." Ronnie spits out.
