(Mia's POV)

"Hey baby," I call as I hear Char turn the keys in my front door. "How was work?" Char walks straight into the living room and sighs, shaking her head tiredly. "Long," she sighs. "Sweetheart you say that every day but you don't always look quite so deflated," I say. "Come here and let's have a debrief, something's clearly bothering you." "It's just," she says sitting herself next to me on the sofa as I wrap my arm around her shoulder. "I'm constantly trying not to lose my job since head office decided to come down on us getting annoyed with the parents but they seem to be just getting worse. Plus I miss you all the time and that makes me even more cranky sometimes and I'm just tired and it's a lot."

"I'm sorry you have to deal with that baby," I say stroking her forearm. "You do know I'd never let them take your job away right?" "Mmm," Char mumbles glumly. "Don't be sad my sweetheart," I say lifting her chin and turning her face towards mine. "Look I've made you some dinner I just need to serve it up. I could make some atmosphere and we have a lovely little romantic home dinner to take your mind off things, what do you say?" She grabs my face and kisses me with excitement, the life in her eyes suddenly springing back with the smile painted on her face in place of the frown. "God I love you Amelia," she whispers.

I smile and kiss her back softly before rubbing the top of her head. "You stay here then sweetie pie and I'll set it all up," I say pecking her lips one more time before getting up. "See you," Char smiles. I head straight to the kitchen and grab two large bowels to serve up dinner. I'd finally mastered the perfect spaghetti bolognaise and I can hardly wait to show my girlfriend. I strain the pasta and divide it into two bowels along with the source.

I look around the kitchen and at the table trying to think how to decorate it when I spot some black and white candles on my shelf along with black napkins. I lay a black cloth over the length of the table and set the candles to the centre of it on silver candle sticks before lighting them. I then take the napkins and set two at the chairs opposite each other start folding the others, trying to make a rose shape. After much fiddling, I finally manage to create black roses out the remaining napkins which I set around the table.

Next I open my cupboard full of whine glasses and beautifully decorated silverware I use on special occasions. Char was special to me and I wanted to make her feel loved so this occasion was special enough for me. I finish the table set up, pouring red wine into each of the glasses and sitting the bottle on the table, rolling the cutlery into a couple spare napkins, setting my flower vase of black and white roses in the centre of the table and finally setting the bowels down. "Alexa play orchestra music," I shout across the room. Aggressively loud music starts abruptly filling the room. "Alexa stop!" I yell. "Alexa play calming music." Rain sounds start playing. "Fuck you Alexa!" I yell. I can hear Char giggling from next door. "Everything alright in there?" She laughs. "Yes just Alexa being a bitch," I call back. "Alexa, play fancy restaurant music." She finally starts playing the peaceful, ambient music I was asking for.

"Sweetheart," I call outside the living room door. "Your dinner awaits madam," I say in a terrible French accent, making Char laugh. She walks out the living room and I offer my hand out, kissing the back of hers as she takes it. "Amelia," she gasps as I lead her into the kitchen. "Oh my goodness this is quite something special." "Something special for my someone special," I say kissing her on the cheek. We sit down opposite each other, Char taking in the decorations all around the table. I hold her hand from across the table, intertwining our fingers. I kiss the back of her hand slowly before gazing into her eyes softly, both of us smiling as we look back at each other.

"Mia this looks amazing," Char says looking down at her bowel as we let go. I take a sip of wine as she takes a bite of her food. "You are the best chef ever," she whispers as she swallows. "I really should have worn something nicer for this I mean..." "Hey," I interrupt. "You look perfect baby." She smiles cutely taking another bite as I do the same. "You know one of these days," I say looking into her eyes. "I'll be sat at dinner in a house we both call home and calling you my wife." Her eyes light up, a smile spreading across her cheeks. "Your... your wife?" She says softly. "Yes baby," I whisper. "One day I'll get to call you my wife." "God I can't wait for that day," Char whispers smiling. "The day I can say Amelia Roberts is my wife."

I the rest of my dinner, gazing at Char and admiring how beautiful she looks, slightly zoned out from what is going on around me. "You ok there?" Char laughs snapping me back into focus. "Sorry," I mutter. "I just have a crush on you that's all." "Me too," she smiles picking up my left hand and placing it in her right before kissing it softly. "I love you like nothing else." "You can't make me blush that's not fair," I mumble as she lets go, trying to hide my red cheeks in my hands. Char stretches her hand across the table and boops my nose gently, making me blush even more. "Cutie," she smiles.

We finish our dinner and Char gets up around walks around to my side of the table. "Thank you for my lovely dinner baby," she says kissing my cheek. "You're the best at cheering me up." She starts stacking the plates and tries to gather the cutlery but I grab her hand to stop her. "No baby," I say. "No cleaning up ok that's my job tonight you relax." "But I.." she protests. "But nothing," I interrupt. "Take a seat please I insist." She sighs cutely before sitting herself back down as I gather up the plates and cutlery and put them in the dishwasher.

I come back around to her chair kissing her cheek several times as she smiles and giggles, turning her head towards me so my lips press against hers. I hold her hand and pull her up off the chair before grabbing both her hands and pulling her back in to kiss her again. My hands move towards her waist as she kisses get deeper, swaying gently to the background music as we both smile into the kisses. We start to lose our breaths and ours lips come apart. I pull her into a tight hug, her head rested on my shoulder and her eyes gently shut. I keep swaying her in the hug, moving us out from the table a little more so we have more room.

I can feel her breathing onto my neck softly, her head getting heavier on my shoulder like she's about to fall asleep. "Aww you're shattered aren't you?" I whisper gently kissing the top of her head. I pick her up so her legs are wrapped around me, walking her out of the kitchen slowly. "Let's get you to bed sweetheart. Alexa, stop thanks." I peer over my shoulder as I carry her up the stairs, trying to judge whether she'd fallen asleep or not. "Char?" I whisper. No response, just breathing. "Charlotte?" I smile to myself, in awe about the fact my girlfriend had fallen asleep over my shoulder.

I place her onto the bed gently before snuggling in next to her, my arms wrapped around her waist. Char starts to shuffle herself slightly before her eyes slowly open. "What?" She mumbles all confused. "W... why am I upstairs?" "You fell asleep on me baby," I smile kissing the top of her head gently. "What stood up?" She says confused. "Yup," I nod in awe. "Honestly you were the cutest thing ever, I carried you all the way upstairs without hearing a peep." "I can't believe I fell asleep," she yawns. "Sounds like you still need a little more sleep sweetheart," I whisper. "Mmm," she mumbles softly into the pillow. "How about we.." I start before realising she was already back fast asleep. I smile at her, admiring how gorgeous she looks all curled up asleep and the small sleepy smile that's plastered across her face. "Night then," I whisper before closing my eyes myself.
