(Mia's POV)
Char hasn't been feeling like herself lately so I decide to do everything I can to cheer her up before she gets home. I've put the twins down to sleep and use the time to buy her some of her favourite snacks and set them out nicely, along with the spaghetti I make that she likes for dinner and a nice warm fire place and ambient music. I light a few candles and set them out in the middle of the dining table ready for my sweetheart's return. I know it's cheesy but I just want her to know how much I adore her and I love to see her happy more than anything in this world.
"Amelia I'm home," she shouts as she finally steps through the front door. I go straight up to her as she flicks off her boots and hangs her coat up. The end of her nose and cheeks are red on the end from the cold air outside. I fling my arms around her in a warm hug. "Hello sweetheart." I give her kiss a cheek as I continue to rock her in the hug. "How was your day." "Long," she sighs. "Something smells nice have you made something?" "Your favourite," I smile coming away from the hug to hold both her hands, trying to warm them up a little. "Spaghetti." "Oh I love you so much," she beams before pulling me in for a quick kiss. "Thank you."
"Come with me sweetheart," I say offering my hand out and leading her to the kitchen. She looks around the room, both amazement and confusion in her eyes. "Amelia Mae what is this? You've set out candles, there's music playing and it looks like you've cleaned the kitchen as well." "I've also fixed the bed upstairs so it's nice and cozy when we get into it later," I add taking her by her arms and swinging her around playfully, planting a chaste kiss on her lips as we come to a stop. "Why?" She asks wrapping her arms around the nape of her neck. "Because sweetheart," I bring my hands to her waist. "I've noticed you've not been your usual cheery self as of late and I wanted to cheer you up a bit because I love you."
I can see her eyes start to well up with tears. "I truly don't deserve you." "Baby you deserve the world," I smile kissing her again. "Shall we eat?" "Yes," she nods cutely. "I don't think I've ever been so attracted to you." Char sits down and I bring the plates over and sit opposite her. We hold hands across the table as we eat, making all sorts of cute faces at each other and trying to make the other laugh as we eat. "How are things at work then angel?" I ask. "Good thank you," Char swallows. "Autumn only took her bat to about three cars this week so I call that a success." "Are you sure you have the right Autumn?" I laugh. "Positive," she sniggers. "I can tell from that murderous look in her eyes."
I take my last mouthful of spaghetti. "She's had that since she was a kid." Char laughs cutely, wiping her mouth as she finishes her last bite. She looks a little warmer now but her cheeks are still flushed slightly red. "You look freezing baby," I say stroking the back of her hand with my thumb. "Do you want to come next door for some cuddles by the fireplace? I've got some of your favourite snacks set up and we can watch something if you'd..." "Fireplace?" She cuts me off in shock. "You... you lit a fire? For me?" "Baby I would watch the world burn for you did you really think I'd draw the line at a couple of logs?" I tease. She rolls her eyes playfully. "Of course not it's just... you always seem to know what I need all the time."
I bring her hand up to my lips and kiss it softly while looking into her stunning blue eyes. "So what do you say? Shall we?" Char nods enthusiastically before we get up and head next door. Her eyes widen like a kid on Christmas morning at the set up. She pulls the blanket over herself as she sits on the sofa. "I love you, come here." I snuggle myself next to her, both of us sharing the blanket as we cuddle." I trail lazy kisses to her lips and down her neck as I run my fingers through her soft locks. "Amelia what are you doing?" She giggles as I continue to kiss her neck. "I'm warming," I hum between kisses. "You up. Is it working?" "Yes," she smiles. "Please keep going I like it a lot." I continue to stroke her hair and kiss her neck, feeling her warm up more and more with each touch.
She mumbles faintly to me about her day and I listen intently, humming and nodding as I plant kisses all over her face, ears and neck. "Do you want to put something on the TV?" I eventually ask once she's finished ranting. "Mmm I quite like this actually," she shrugs. She strokes me under my jawline with her thumb, the rest of her hand rested on my cheek. "I'm in front of a warm fire and I'm being kissed by a pretty girl who is somehow my wife what more could I ask for?" "Well aren't you a cutie?" I blush a little before going in for another kiss. I let my lips just kiss her continuously while my fingers trace her facial features, stroking her across each cheek and her forehead and running my thumb over the bridge of her nose.
I find myself lost in her eyes for several moments afterwards, listening to her faint laughs while my thumb skims her face one more time like a map, skimming over each freckle and drawing like patterns across her face. "Mia that tickles," she giggles taking me out of my trance. "Should I stop?" I ask taking my hand away. She grabs hold of my wrist and brings my hand right back to where it was. "No don't stop I like it when you play connect the dots with my freckles." "Connect the dots?" I laugh. "That's what it seems like," she sniggers. "How were the twins today? Did they settle down alright?"
"They were just little angels the pair of them," I smile continuing to play connect the dots with her freckles. "I took them for a quick play in the park so they were nice and worn out by the time I set them down in their cribs, they didn't even need a bedtime story just a quick goodnight kiss and they were sound asleep." "Bless them," Char smiles her eyes half shutting. I place a soft kiss on her forehead. "I can see you going the same way in the minute my little tired one." "Mmm," she mumbles sleepily. "I can stay awake a few more hours though it's fine." Her sentence is broken up by her yawns. "Are you sure about that?" I whisper tracing her freckles on her forehead now. "You did yawn just then I think you need an early night."
I kiss her eyelids gently as I notice her eyes completely shutting. "One... two.... Three," I mumble softly as I count her freckles one by one, the soft taps of my finger tips making her fall asleep. "Four... five... six." By the time I get to twenty, she's coming still and fast asleep wrapped in my arms. I get up slowly, being careful not to wake her, and quickly extinguish the candles and the fires.
I then come back to the sofa and pick her up in a cradle in my arms before carrying her all the way up the stairs. I put her down and pull the duvet and an extra blanket over her before getting into bed next to her. "So much for staying awake another few hours hey?" I whisper teasingly, kissing the middle of her forehead. "Goodnight love, have a good rest. I love you." "I love you," I hear her mumble faintly in her sleep. I keep next to her and open my book and just read for a little while until I get tired enough to sleep too.
