(Mia's POV)
I knock on Autumn's door to collect the twins, she'd been looking after them for the weekend. "Hello Mia," she says opening the door. "Girlies your mamma's here." "Mamma!" I hear Cece babble as she crawls up to the door. "They're growing up so fast aren't they?" Autumn smiles. "I know," I say picking her up on my hip. "Honestly, I can't catch up with them these days, they crawl so fast! Were you a good girl for aunty Autumn?" "They were perfect," Autumn tells me. "Fraya missed her mummies a little bit on the Friday night but I soon got her settled." I can hear Fraya babbling as she crawls at speed to the door and I scoop her up to, Autumn bringing over their pram with all their stuff in at the bottom. "That's all their things for you, send Charlotte my love when you pick her up."
"I will thank you," I smile. "Ok you two shall we go and pick up Mummy now?" "Bye Mia, the twins were a delight as always," Winter shouts from the kitchen. "Bye Winter," I shout back. The twins babble excitedly as I step out the front door, Autumn carrying the pram as I strap the babies into their car seats. "Thank you so much again Autumn," I smile as she shuts the car door. "It's always a pleasure," she says before going back to her house. I get in the car and drive off to the nursery to pick up Char after her shift.
Once I arrive, I put the twins in their pram and go straight inside to fetch Char. "Are we going to pick up Mummy?" I coo to the twins. I head straight to the baby room where Char was working today and knock on the door. She smiles widely as soon as she clocks me at the door with the girls. "Hey sweetheart," she smiles opening the door, before giving me a quick kiss on the cheeks. "How are my babies doing?" "They're fine," I tell her. "They missed their mummy though." She lifts Fraya out of the pram and bounces her on her hip gently. "I missed them too, so so much!" "Quack quack!" Fraya babbles, pointing to a book in the book corner with a duck on the front cover. "Quack quack!" "Yes it is a duck, clever girl," Char praises. "Quack quack!" Fraya keeps repeating to herself, bursting into a fit of giggles as Char playfully tickles her under her chin.
"Alright let's get you home then," I say as she puts Fraya back in the pram. "What do you fancy for dinner tonight?" "I don't mind darling, you decide." I give her a quick peck on the lips. "Now you know I'll insist on letting you pick my love." "Alright I'll finish locking up see you in the car," Char smiles. I wave goodbye before taking the twins out the door and back to the car. While I'm waiting, I put them back in their car seats and collapse their pram to fit in the boot. As Char comes out to the car park, I hold both her hands and give her a quick kiss. "Did you have a good day baby?" "It was fine," she sighs. "Honestly those babies and their parents are quite the handful sometimes."
"I missed your gorgeous face," I say pinching her cheeks playfully. "Right let's get home I want cuddles." "Ok Amelia, I'm not a clingy wife, Roberts," Char teases getting into the car. She buckles her seatbelt, resting her hand on my thigh as I drive off. "I mean... I might have missed your pretty face just a tiny bit today too." "Quack quack!" Fraya yells from her car seat. "Quack quack!" I look out of my window, trying to find the duck which my daughter has decided to point out to me to see, as expected, there is not a single duck outside. "Pumpkin... there's not a duck outside you funny girl." "Quack quack!"
She yaps, flapping her little arms about in excitement. "Quack quack!"Cece finds this whole thing hilarious and soon joins in with her sister's antics with drives me slightly crazy on the way home but I have to admit it is really cute. About a hundred quacks later, we make it home and Char carries the pram and all the stuff inside while I take the babies. Once we tackle that mission, we head to the living room, putting the girls back down with their toys. "Mamma, mamma!" Cece babbles crawling at speed toward Charlotte, who picks her up and sits her on her lap. "Quack!" Fraya shouts again, pointing to the TV. "Mamma... quack!" "Fray there are no ducks in the TV what do you..." I sigh in realisation over what she means, picking up the remote and turning it on and finding her favourite show which of course is Sarah and Duck. "Quack quack!" She laughs, clapping her hands as the theme song starts.
Cece quickly crawls off Char's lap and sits next to her sister, both of them fully engrossed in Sarah and Duck. I admire my wife from a distance, her cute little smile as she watches the girls will never not be endearing. I shuffle towards her and briskly kiss her softly, pulling her down by her waist so she's lying on the floor. I cup her face in my hands to kiss her again, slowly moving my lips across hers and feeling her smile into the kisses. "What?" She whispers breathlessly. "Amelia what are you doing?" "Kissing you," I tell her like it's obvious, before kissing her again. "You just looked so perfect and kissable." Char just smiles and wraps her arms around my waist, pulling me closer to her and pressing her foreheads together. We hover for a few moments, gazing into each other's eyes before she finally kisses me back.
I take short gasps between the kisses as my thumb runs under her jawline. Our foreheads are pressed together and our eyes are closed for a few moments afterwards. I kiss the end of her nose playfully. "Why do you ever have to leave me Charlotte Victoria?" "Because I have to work my sweetheart," she says softly. "Not all of us can cruise about on a board of directors wage and not work all the time." "I suppose that's true," I nod before realising the twin's programme was finished. "Right girlies," I say standing back up and helping Char do the same. "Let's go bed-byes." I pick up Cece, who's already have falling asleep, while Char takes Fraya. We both carry them upstairs to their cots, changing them for settling them down to sleep. I put both their favourite toys, Fraya's yellow duck and Cece's panda, next to them and we both kiss them goodnight.
"The babies have the right idea," Char yawns flopping herself backwards onto the bed. "They sure do," I mumble flopping next to her. She rolls over to me slowly, wrapping one of her legs around mine and placing her hand over my chest. "Shall we have a quick power nap before dinner?" She suggests, feeling both of us starting to go to sleep. "Good idea," I yawn. "Let's be nap buddies." Char smiles to herself and shuffles her head on my chest before I start rubbing her back and kissing her forehead gently until she falls asleep. I start feeling my eyes getting heavy too, so I shut them fully, wrapping my free arm around Char's waist to snuggle her slightly closer to me as we both fall asleep.
