(Char's POV)

I kiss the twins goodnight and turn their night lights on as they fall asleep. I come downstairs and Mia's curled up on the sofa with a blanket over her. "You ok there love?" I ask kissing her on the cheek as I approach her. "The girls are in bed by the way." Mia mumbles to herself incoherently pulling the blanket over her shoulders. "Are you tired sweetheart?" I whisper laying a kiss on her temple as I snuggle up next to her under the blanket. "No," she murmurs. "I just want cuddles that's all." "Happy Halloween baby," I smile. "Happy Halloween," she whispers back shuffling herself closer to me.

I ruffle her red locks, stroking my fingers through her bangs. "You're my little devil you are." "Why thank you," she smirks. She turns around and steals a kiss from my lips, which I return by holding the back of her head to kiss her again  softly. She reaches her hand behind my back, tracing my lower spine and wrapping a leg around me to deepen the kiss. My hands tangle up in her hair and we both smile into the kisses, breaking them up with soft giggles and grins as our entire bodies intertwine. We keep kissing until we both lose our breaths and have to break the kiss with a gasp for air. I relax my head into her neck, collapsing into a warm up, both of us lying perfectly still and feeling our hearts beating and stomachs breathing against each other's warmth.

Mia kisses me again lazily, lingering her lips over mine so her words and muffled into my mouth. "Do you know that rain outside kind of sounds like that one Halloween song if you listen closely enough." I tune my ears with the pattering of the rain outside the window, trying to work out what on earth she means. "What on earth is that supposed to mean?" "You know," she yawns. "The one with all the violins and stuff written in the olden days?" I can't help but snigger at her strange remarks. Something about her being so clever yet so stupid is really endearing. "Olden days? Are you five years old?" Mia just giggles.

There's a lingering silence as I just lay there and hold her in my arms, planting kisses on her forehead and listening to rain. Occasionally our shoulders start rising as we snigger to ourselves about our previous conversation, laughing so much that eventually we're just laughing at the very fact we're laughing. "Do you recon the people in the Middle Ages were aware that they were living in the middle of time?" Mia blurts out breaking the silence. All I can do is shoot her a confused expression. "Amelia Mae what the actual fu.."

My sentence is interrupted by the doorbell ringing. I attempt to break away from the hug to answer it, but Mia pulls me back into her. "No baby don't leave I like this cuddle." She attacks my face with several kisses to prevent me from moving. "Amelia Mae," I giggle between the kisses. "If you could please let me go so I can answer the door to these trick or treaters that would be great." "Nooo," Mia groans. "Stay here I want more cuddles don't leave me." I slide my hand out of her grasp slowly, her groaning cutely as she grabs hold of my entire arm pulling me back on top of her. I scan still hear people knocking at our door and I desperately try and wrestle myself from Mia to answer it.

"Amelia Mae Roberts if you don't let go of me..." "Fine," she sighs finally letting me go. I leave the room and quickly answer the door, handing out the sweets to the kids and watching them walk away. "Charlotte come back now please," Mia shouts from the next door. "I miss you." "There's still kids on the other side about to cross," I shout back. "Just let me do these and I'll come back." I hand out the next lot of sweets before coming back to my clingy wife.

"What to do with you hey?" I tease booping Mia's nose playfully. "Pretend we're not in tonight so we can stay in here and cuddle forever?" She suggests cheekily. "I for one am quite up of that suggestion." I roll my eyes and snuggle myself back up to her, planting a quick kiss on the top of her head. "I'm sure you are baby." Mia lets out another yawn as she rolls over to face me, our foreheads pressing together. I pucker my lips to give her a quick peck. "Are you sure you don't want to go to bed now sweetheart? I can carry you up if you'd like and I can answer any other trick or treaters myself." "It's only about half past 8," she yawns again. "I'm not tired yet I promise, plus I do not want to see the end of this cuddle."

I watch her eyelids become heavier as she fights with every last inch of her being to keep them open and keep the conversation going. "Come on sleepy head let's get you to bed now," I whisper before kissing her temple. "I don't care how early it is you're tired and you're going to bed." "I'm not tired," she mumbles trying to mask the yawn that escapes her mouth every time she speaks. There's another knock at the door. "Nooo,"
Mia protests as I roll her off me gently so I can get up. "No baby please I need you here." "You are so melodramatic you'll live for thirty seconds," I laugh giving her a quick kiss on the cheek as I race to the door before she can pull me back again.

By the time I've finished giving the sweets out, I come back to Mia completely knocked out on the sofa. I stand back and admire her peaceful sleepy smile that's painted across her face and the way her hair drapes perfectly over her eyes. I cradle her gently in my arms, doing my best not to wake her up as I carry her upstairs. She doesn't notice she'd fallen asleep until I place her down on the bed. "W... what am I doing here?" She mumbles looking around confused. "Char I really don't remember walking back up here." "You fell asleep downstairs sugar plum," I explain sitting on the bed beside her and leaning down to give her a kiss. "I thought I'd get you into bed so you can have the early night you're too bloody stubborn to admit you clearly need."

She pulls at the wire of her bra under her top. "How did I even fall asleep in this stupid thing it's so uncomfortable." "Give it here I'll help you," I say before going to her draw to find her oversized night t-shirt. I help her remove her jeans and her top, followed by her bra before putting the t-shirt over her head. "Better?" "Better," she smiles sleepily, pulling my arm so we're both lying down. Her arms wrap around my waist and her body collapses into mine as she almost instantly falls asleep. "Good my sweetheart," I whisper in her ear before kissing it. "Sweetest dreams."
