(Char's POV)
Mia and I take the twins out on a walk through some wood. The girls are in front, Fraya in a yellow raincoat and Cece in a purple raincoat, splashing through all the puddles as they see them. "Splash!" They squeal excitedly as their wellies stomp on each puddle. "Splash splash!" "Are you having fun there girls?" I call out. "Yes Mummy fun!" Cece responds, continuing to splash. She offers her hand out to her sister. "Fray-Fray hold hands." Fraya willingly accepts her hand and they jump through the next puddle together, still holding hands as they run along and laughing with every step they take.
"They're so sweet," I whisper to Mia. "We've raised cute kids." "We have," she beams before lifting up my hand in hers to kiss it. "I love all our girls so much." "Quack quack!" Fraya suddenly screeches, running off somewhere into the trees. "Quack quack!" Cece's stood still a metre ahead of us, looking just as confused as we are. I approach her and offer my arm out. "Cece can you take Mummy's hand now please darling?" "Otay Mummy," she says taking my hand. I walk with her, Mia close behind us, to try and find Fraya following the sounds of her little "quacks."
We walk through a few trees and eventually find a pond where Fraya is stood pointing at the ducks swimming past. "Mummy look!" She beams excitedly as she notices us. "Mamma look! Cece look! Duckies!" Cece runs as fast as her little legs can carry her up to her sister to watch the ducks with her. "Quack quack!" Fraya squeals as each duck passes by. She crouches down and tries to mimic the waddles of the ducks, stumbling around on her tiny feet and quacking wildly. Mia sniggers as she watches from the side lines at our daughter's antics. "Quack quack!" Fraya continues.
A few moments later, Fraya takes a wrong step while waddling and trips up over her own feet. She faces the floor, a short moment of silence before the hysterical crying happens. "Ouchie ouchie," she cries. "Fraya get hurt." Mia comes straight to her, rubbing her back to try and calm her down. "Oh dear my poor bubba, did we take a stumble?" "Yes," she cries. "I stumble." "Where does it hurt darling?" Mia asks, kissing Fraya's knee as she cries while pointing to it. "Does that feel better now?" "Feel better," she repeats as her tears start to calm down.
I take myself on the other side of her and give her a quick side hug. "It's just a little tumble that's all my sweetie pie you're all alright now." I check her knees and her hands for any signs of blood andthere are none so Mia and I help her back on her feet again slowly. "Fray-Fray otay?" Cece asks with a cute concerned look on her face. "Fraya hurt?" "I otay," Fraya reassures her, wandering over for a clumsy cuddle from her sister. "I just stumble, it otay." She looks back out to the pond, counting all the ducks as they swim by. "One... two.... Thwee, four... five.... Twelve.... Eighty eight!!" She claps her hands together, completely chuffed with herself.
She turns around to us, a smile beaming across her face. "Eighty eight duckies Mummy! Me count myself!" "Yes you did," I enthuse. "My clever clever girl you are!" Cece holds her hand out to the sky, a few raindrops falling onto her hand. "Mamma why sky leak?" She asks Mia. Mia laughs cutely. "The water leaking out the sky is called rain remember? Pretty much, the clouds have too much water in them so it pours out of the sky." "Woah!" Cece gasps at amazement looking straight up at the sky. "Cloud leak!" I have to stand behind her to make sure she doesn't walk into something as she walks backwards while looking up at the sky in amazement.
"Right girls," I say. "I think it's time we go home before it rains anymore, say goodbye to the duckies." "Me keep duckies?" Fraya pleas with cute little puppy eyes. "Me want duckies at home." I scoop her up onto my hip. "Maybe one day darling but these duckies live here and we can't take them from their home." "Why?" She asks. "Duckies like me." "They do like you," I smile. "But they won't like being taken away from their home. Come on, say bye bye to the duckies and I promise they'll be here next time and we can see them again." "Otay," Fraya says. "Bye bye duckies." She waves at the duckies as Mia picks Cece up and we make our way out the woods and back on the foot path towards where we parked the car.
"Sky leak lots!" Cece points out as the rain starts to get heavier while we walk. "Clouds wewy full!" "They are," I laugh. "The clouds are very fully today yes." "Bye bye duckies!" Fraya waves one more time peering over my shoulder towards the pond where we just were. We carry the girls all the way back to the car, both of them nearly asleep by the time we have. I give Fraya a kiss on the top of her head as she drifts off to sleep, Cece going the same way over Mia's shoulder.
We strap the twins into their car seats, both of them fully knocked out, before sitting ourselves in the front. Mia leans over and kisses my lips. "You alright sweetheart?" "Yeah," I smile. "You?" She kisses me again. "I'm good thank you. Sorry I feel like I've not kissed you a lot today." My cheeks flush pink a little as she kisses me on the lips again, closely followed by my cheek. "Stop you make me blush when you're this cute." "So what?," she smirks holding under my chin. "I think your little reddened cheeks are adorable and I always have." "You're so sappy," I tease as she kisses me again. "You do realise you made me like this?"
